Need new tires for 2000 SERG......suggestions?
« on: December 12, 2010, 07:43:15 AM »

Is anyone running metzler 880's on their bikes? If so are you holy with them or are you running something better? Ihave always rune the stock dunlops on the bike. But can't seem to get much mileage out of rears. Also the other big consideration for me in this part of the world is rain handling, we het gully washers here all Summer long. Anyone running michilens , I have Keats run mucilage on my 4 wheel vehicles and got greet performance out of them

I have always run the stock Harley dunlops on the bagger.  I switched over to the Michelin's Comanders last tire change.  I could not have imagined what i was missing all those years.  Like a whole new bike all over again. I have ~5k on the Michelins,  I will never go back to stock dunlops.   Not to say i would not try something new if it comes along.

I used to run the ME880's on the VROD for years.  I thought it was a great tire, HOWEVER, they did not improve my mileage. In fact i lost several thousand per set.  They are a softer compond in my opinion.

I run the Metz's 880's can't tell you what kind of mileage because they just came out with the size for my 07 SERK this year, I have about 4,000 on them now and they still look new, The ride and handling is a world of difference over the SE (dunlop) tires that came on this bike, I have been caught a couple of times in rain and the tires felt good, and  i HATE to ride in rain. Can't tell you what kind of mileage we can get on the baggers but i ran them on the Low Rider i had and was getting around 10-11,000 miles on rear tire.

Put 880's on 07 SERK  first 3 sets of tires were OE back tire cupped everytime at 5 to 7000 miles I have 11000 on Metxlers no cupping nd the handleing in dry and wet weather is better. Billy
