air pump for tires
« on: December 24, 2010, 10:28:42 PM »

Could anyone recommend a small tire pump for my bike, trying to check the pressure especially on the back tire at the local gas station has become a real pain, I would like
to be able to check and put air in the tire in my garage. I have a 2009 SE

I have a regular air compressor for home,  but i carry this little jewel for for the road ...  If you have a maintanance battery charger connection on your battery, this plugs right into the 12 volt connection ... you will still need a preswure gage to varify correct tire pressure.

I have one of these Craftsman 12V Portable Inflator that I use and keep it in my saddlebag/TP so it can be used on the road.

Here is another option.  I carry this along with their repair kit - all fits nicely in the supplied case in the bottom corner of the saddle bag.

Check out the multiple versions, just compressor, with tire gauge, with tire plugs, with tire tools.  I could probably get us a group buy here, I have connections  :2vrolijk_21:

I've got one of the little "Slime" branded compressor kits and a tire plug kit in the bottom of the saddlebag of each bike.  Takes almost no space.  A nice option to get you home sometime.

Used to carry CO2 cartridges and guns.  Had done that for years and had used them successfully several times.  Then six or seven years ago realized everything I rode had power connectors.  So made the change.

On a longer trip I still throw the CO2 kit whatever bike I'm on for that trip.  Just as a redundant backup.  The little compressors are relatively reliable.  But it's still dependent on the device working, the fuse not being popped or any of several other factors that might piss me off on the side of the road some dark night or rainy day.  So keeping the backup inflation method doesn't break my heart.

I have this plug kit - Slime/Deluxe reamer plugger kit that I picked up from AutoZone to go along w/the compressor. Both small enough to fit in saddlebag/TP.
