New GPS mount from Harley.
« on: December 25, 2010, 04:31:27 PM »

Was wandering around the dealership a couple weeks ago and spotted a "must have."
Owners of the 2011 Screamin Eagle Road Glides know what I'm talking about.
The GPS mount on these bikes is new for 2011.
And it was beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
So I ordered one.
You just can't argue with chrome.

 ;D

Here's a picture (off the bike of course) of the old mount.
Black and ugly, but it did the job.

What a nice part!
Here it is mounted on the bike.
A night and day difference from old to new.

And a final picture with the GPS.
Chrome is good!
I hope d00d don't mention he would like to have one.
It would be a shame for him to have this part sit in a box like his hinges.

SBB, thanks for the pictures.  I ordered mine (p/n 76000022) last week.

Those 11 SERGU have it good.
After looking at that mount I had to have one.
Good luck on yours!

SBB, it sure is a sweet item.  I'm not much into asking "why" HD does or says, but did you feel you were taking a chance on a mount HD describes as "Road Tech™ zūmo 660 and 665 Handlebar Mount Kit" for your Zumo 550?

I'll take some pictures of the installation.  The GPS isn't a Zumo and the RAM cradle I'm using will take a little modification to accommodate the bolt pattern of the new mount.  To some it will seem like a lot of work to accommodate a non-Zumo GPS, but the HD mount is too nice to pass up IMO.

The Techmount used by Twolanerider and others is a nice piece and it enjoys a cost advantage over the new HD mount ($80 vs. $150), but the HD mount is like a piece of chrome sculpture and clutters up the handlebar a bit less since it replaces the clutch perch bracket.

I knew it would work.
It's just lke most everything Harley, it will work on something different if you change just a few things.
On this one, I just added the ball mount and presto, "life is good."
Show us pictures of yours when install is complete.
Good luck!

That's a nice looking part Chip.  Can't consider it for the GPS mounts on the bikes here because the switches for the Heat Demons grip heaters mount for the clutch perch.  If not for that, however, the part would have to get strong consideration.

Is this actually a HD part?  If so do you have the p/n?  Looks much nicer than my black one, oh it looks just like your black one
