2011 Ultra / Zumo
« on: December 28, 2010, 01:08:23 AM »

I have a friend with a 09' CVO Ultra. He is installing the Garmin Zumo 660.
We have a couple questions, where dose the aux. charge port wire go on the 2011 bikes.
The weather proof cover has a clip to parrallel another wire. He wants to place it in the same place as the factory does.
The other thing is the mic. port wire. What is tied to it on the new bike or is it a future.

Thanks, Mike

What do you mean "aux. charge port wire"?

If you are talking about the audio output of the Zumo then you buy a stereo Extension cable and plug the extension cable into the Auxiliary Input port on the front of the radio.

The weather proof cover has a clip to parrallel another wire. He wants to place it in the same place as the factory does.

Not sure what you are talking about here, maybe some one elso will and they will let you know.

The other thing is the mic. port wire. What is tied to it on the new bike or is it a future.

If you want to make or take a phone call via the Zumo phone interface then you need to install a helmet microphne interface such as the HD Bomm www.hdbomm.com or equivaleant.

Thanks, Mike

Thank you,

The aux. charge port wire is on the wire, mnt. bracket kit. The kit comes with a plug in charger that you can charge the 660 on or off the bike.
If the unit is in the holder on the bike, you can plug into this wire built into the harness. Looking for the right place to install the wire.
It should be factory installed on the 2011 CVO Ultras with factory 660's.

Thank you,
Mike

Edit: I just realized that you might be refering to the Road Glide Ultra vs Ultra Electra Glide.  My comments only are valid for the Ultra Electra Glide.

Unfortunately, none of the zumo's appear to have been wired from the factory to the aux port.  On my 665, which was installed on my limited, it came with a wire to run from the audio out connector to the aux port and has a weather proof cover for the aux connector.  Is this what you are referring to?

I guess the real question is are you using the fairing mount of the handlebar mount from a kit?  The 660's on the 2011 CVO Ultras are mounted using a fairing mount.

It's on 09' CVO Ultra and he is using the dash/faring mount. The port and weather proof cover I circled and the cover is # 14
He has the supplement 2011' CVO service manual and it dosn't list what the wire is used for or where to install it. I was hoping someone
with a new 2011' CVO Ultra had spotted it hanging along the front brake line or another wire.
It's not too long, so it cant go to far.

I'll go look and see what I can find out.  Might be a little bit before I can come back with any useful info.  Your last post clarified everything.  :2vrolijk_21:

So I looked, and I don't see that connection, but then again I don't necessarily have the CVO one to look at.  All I can do is compare notes with the stuff I had added to my limited.

However, I went and looked again at your original post.  I'm a bit confused again.  You said " The kit comes with a plug in charger that you can charge the 660 on or off the bike."

As far as I can tell, I have the charger that can be plugged into the wall and charge the zumo and isn't used to charge it on the bike.  When I plug the zumo into the mount, it charges.  No need for an aux charge port per se.  The interconnect harness usually plugs into circuit 29B.  Maybe that cable is there to facilitate this depending on your wiring requirements?  What color are the wires?

Sorry I don't have the exact answer for ya, but I'm definitely very curious to the final answer.

You have 4 connectors on the power cable.

1)  1 is the power 12VDC which connects to a 12 volt power source, such as the cigarette lighter.

2)  1 is a 2.5mm plug which is the microphone input, this is where you would plug the H-D Bomm into.

3)  1 is the stereo audio output, which is connected to the auxiliary input on the front of the radio.

4)  The last and the one you have marked is a mini-usb plug, which is used to plug the GMX 40 antenna in. I do not think it is a charge port as the unit will charge as long as you have power on the 12 volt supply wires mentioned in 1 above.

The 660 is FM traffic compatable but not XM compatable. The mount for the 660 is the same as the mount for the 665. If you had the 665 you would plug the GMX antenna into the port you are looking at. You do not need to plug any thing into this port on your 660.

Hope this helps you out.

Jim,

Thank you, that is the info we were looking for. The wire connector mini USB is the same as the charger so we assumed it was to charge the unit.
Thanks for all the input, I knew you guys would have a answer.
