You're only old if you only saw a bike in the ad. Was there a bike?  :P

What was the difference between a XLCH and XLH?

The CH cam with PB cams too IIRC and magneto...bitch to start.
There were quite a few differences to the two over the years they made them.

The "H" was electric start, mine had Saddle Bags and a Winshield.  I think the Gas Tank was 3 gal., and it had like a mini-touring seat on it.  It was Purple and White.  'Course I took the bags, windshield, and mufflers off, first thing.  The CH was kick start, had a different oil tank, and a smaller gas tank.  I think they had 18" wheels, front and rear.  To me, at 16 years old, it would fly!  Later--HUBBARD

I guess I had a XLCH with points no magneto but still a bitch to start. I was told that it was 900cc? I still have a after market service manuel but doesn't provide any specs.

In '72 I bought a XLCH.  It was 1000cc.  Junk, as I remember.  :( Later--HUBBARD

CH had alloy rims. H had steel, lots of other minor differences. My CH had a hi pipe and muffler.
Dislocated both knees (different times) trying to start it. Of course, at the time I prolly only weighed about 110 LBS.

I still have my 1970 XLH that I bought new. It was the first bike "I" bought on my own. When I got on the list for it, I ordered it with the small "CH" tank as you could do that back than.

Cost for it was $1852.00 out the door.........
