Saddlebag lid spoilers "Wiring"
« on: April 03, 2006, 05:25:24 PM »

Heres my problem..... I droped my bike off to get detailed over the weekend. Today I find out that my saddlebag lid spoilers are not working. Seems that when they pulled the bags off they did not look to see the wires connected and pulled the wires out of not one but both plugs.
My question to save time is does anyone still have their wiring diagram handy to tell me which wires black, white and red match up to the numbers 1, 2 and 3 on the plug..... Thanks in advance. Dave

Now that's what I like about this site, multiple sources of H-D information and no, or extremely low hourly rates! OCD counseling and chrome mentorship. That is what it's all about, and we can even vent (bitch) about things if necessary.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Dave,
Morbid curiousity I guess; but I've got to ask.  Did the shop doing whatever work was being done and that did the damage even say anything?  And if so how did they explain their stupidity?

Or did they just send you out the door to later find the problem on your own?

I've actually got two of those little plugs beside each saddlebag.  One for the spoiler and one for the lighted saddlebag latch.  That's up to a dozen connections to repair or recrimp along with the purchase of necessary terminals, gates, etc.  If someone got so ham-fisted they just ripped mine apart like that I'd be a significantly unhappy camper.

I am definetly a unhappy camper to say the least. Nothing was said about it when I picked the bike up. My wife actually noticed they were out while we were out riding on sunday. She being on her own bike of course. They pulled the bags off and when they did never disconnected the plugs for the spoilers and ended up pulling the three wires on each plug out of their connectors. I went back there today and confronted them about twice over stupidity. They refunded half the cost of detailing..... I should have the wires reconnected tonight..... Again thanks for everyones help and concern. I Love this Site, Dave

That just blows. Stupidity is one thing.  Hardly malignant in intent though as stupid is as stupid does.  Negligently not mentioning that they damaged your property in the obvious attempt to get you away from them and their liability before you saw it, however, is only one step removed from needing to be bitch slapped.

Ok, so it's no secret that I'm a bitch to deal with when something pisses me off, but this is beyond anything anyone should have to put up with when they take their bike to an Authorized Factory Dealership. They refunded you 1/2 the cost and you are doing the repair yourself ? I'm sorry dude, but if San Diego H-D pulled that chit on me, someone would have a saddlebag stuffed up their ass. Without the KY. >:(
Now, on the reasonable side, were I you, I would make an appt with the General Manger of the Dealership and keeping my cool, explain to him how I felt about the way I'd been completed mistreated by his service dept. I would also let him know that I expected a complete refund AND the damage repaired OR I would A) call H-D Customer Service and lodge a formal complaint against the dealership and B) I would file a complaint with the local Better Business Bureau. If that didn't get me anything from the dealership in question, I would find another place to spend my money.
