Corbin Seat Adventures
« on: April 03, 2006, 11:26:31 PM »

First off, let me say thanks to everyone on this site for great information and help.  Especially to Twolanerider who hooked me up with a replacement dipstick..you da' man and the t shirt goes out this week (plus you adult beverage card in Dallas is still intact)!  On to my latest adventure....

Just bought a corbin solo seat plus touring pillion.  The actual mode fits a 2004-2006 roadking but it fits my bike (2004SEEG) perfectly...except that the quick detach backrest on my current chopped tour pack won't go on with the touring pillion (solve that with a corbin backrest)...however the quick detach tour pack won't fit either.  I'm going to get a king tour pack and want to give the passenger some extra room....will only use the tour pack three or four times per year...soooo...what's my best solution?  Thinking of going with a kuryakyn relocator that I'll have to take on and off a few times per year which according to Kurykyn will only take 30 minutes or so to mount/unmount.  However, I have a laydown plate bracket...will that work with the relocator kit?  Am I better off with another set up?  Does anyone else have similar issue with a corbin solo plus touring pillion?  Ideas? Thoughts?

Thanks!

Thanks twolane...does that apply to the quick detach as well?  From what I can tell the metal cross brace on the quick detach bracket is what is hitting the seat...not the tourpack....is there a way to move the quick detach hardware back or do I just have to play around with it?

I could not get the tour-pack thing resolved on my SERK so sold the Corbin seat and expensive backrests. There's just not much room for adjustments on the quick disconnect tour pack setup to make much of a difference. They do point out that their seats are not compatible with tourpaks as I recall.

As far as the laydown plate issue, I simply drilled some holes lower on the license blackplate just enough to give the tourpack base enough clearance, and re-mounted the plate. I check the base of the tourpack for rubbing, etc. frequently and maybe I'll install some of that 3M protectant sheet, but so far so good.

:o I hope that works for me, I just got back from Lost Wages and my corbin stuff was on the porch.  Too tired to work on it tonight, but I will in the morning.  I bought the whole package for two tour paks and rider and passenger backrests.

Yeah 2 Lane, I see what you mean.  I guess I will have to look into that custom touch.  Otherwise, I am pleased.

Hey Twolane,
I want to order a custom stich pattern on my Corbin (haven't ordered it yet).   How long did it take them to do yours????  What was the charge  (just extra stiching).......

Beagle,

The tuck & roll look stitching is standard. The studs and piping will cost ya extra.

Sure thing Mark.  Already had imagery in the computer so didn't even have to wander out to the garage.  Here is what was done to the tour paks to complete the striping over the spoilers and dress up the large red field in the middle.
