Wheel Refinishing..
« on: January 06, 2011, 01:24:40 PM »

Got a new (gently used) Thunderstar to replace my existing front wheel on my 05 cherry, it had the dreaded peeling chrome issues.  Has anyone had one of these wheels refinished by a wheel shop or is the expense not worth the effort?  Not sure what wheel refinishing costs, but something tells me it's not worth the hastle.
Thanks

Scrrem,

Paid to have a wheel refinished by Space Coast in Melbourne Florida.  The chrome was fantastic compared to the original from harley.  Cost of a new Wheel for the 04 was 1200 less 20 percent they charged 600.00 for the rechroming and it was nickle plated.  so in this case it was cost effective.   Have to call Jenny and find out how much for a new wheel at 20 precent off then make a decision.

Space Coast Plating also did the wheels on my 04 big difference compared to Harley chrome

Thanks for the input, maybe I'll look into having it done.  Man, Harley chrome has really gone down hill over the years.  I guess it's like everthing else, do it cheaper.  Thanks again!!!

Glad I found this thread...

I need to have the front wheel rechromed on my springer.  And I agree....Harley's chrome seems to have gone downhill.
