D&D Boss Cat
« on: January 06, 2011, 05:09:03 PM »

I have a 2011 CVO Street Glide and have looked and V&H Monster Rounds but I am leaning heavily toward D&D.  Any experiences out there with D&D?

I have the standard Fat Cat on my 03 Road King, and the Boss Cat with the standard baffle on my 10.5 Ultra. To me the Boss has a little bit deeper tone "not as tingy as my farther says as he is always following me complaining about the noise from my road king hahaha" at highway speed but still can get loud when racked on. I run the radio volume about half way and can hear it fine. I like them

I would encourage you to listen to one on a 110 engine if at all possible.  They're unique for sure.  And not quiet.

Any HP/TQ gains over an X-pipe and 2.0 baffles? Retune necessary?

The Boss Fat Cat performs better that the original Fat Cat for the mere reason it doesn't give that torque dip like the original Fat Cat.
The x pipe and 2'' baffle works fine also.....you might gain a little more tq to the right and to the left with the Boss over the x pipe with a good tune.
Yes it requires a new tune.....any time you change the air flow through the motor the fuel have to be synchronized to it.

Thanks for the input so far....  I have been told that the stock intake/air cleaner are fine to leave on with the D&D Boss Fat Cat's.  I know I have to add a tuner but it would be nice to keep the same filter.  Thoughts?

You can run the stock a/c cover but I would run a SE air filter kit or a Big Sucker air filter kit......this will balance the airflow out with the Boss Fat Cat and deliver more tq/hp. Of course you need a good tune also.

Doc, Do you mean a different SE kit than what comes on the SE?  It is a 2011 SE Street Glide

Doc,

i think you wrote before that you were not a big fan of the new rinehart true dual system for 09's and above?  Aside from the looks which you had mentioned, what don't you like?  I currently run those on my 2010 110 with a T-max and high flow air intake.  I plan on going with Woods or the 575 Redshift cams this winter, and i was toying selling the Rineharts and going with the D&D's.  Will i actually feel a difference in the seat?

I recently installed a set of V & H Dresser Duals and V & H Hi-Output Slipons. I decided on this setup because my ear likes the sounds a true duals. I think they have less of the Formula 1 sound.

So far I like the choice. It is fairly loud but if that begins to bother me V & H offers a quite baffle for something like $30.

Yes you should feel a difference plus your tq curve will grow on the left and right.
The Rineharts arent bad however the Boss Fat Cat and the Super Meg are much better.

Doc,

I am not trying to hijack this thread but I just talked to a friend of mine today that is planning on doing this exact setup.  Boss Cat and a SE Heavy Breather on a 2008 Street Glide.  What would be the recommended  route for him in the ecm/tune area?

Thank you in advance.
