Ok, I guess it's not been JACKED, if it's your own thread and I wanted to try out HarleyPingman's suggestion of modifying the Subject of a thread...

Anyway, I'm curious if anyone on this forum has modified the MoCo's fairing mount for the Road Tech GPS. I understand how it's mounted now and no I don't want to add the dash pad / lose the triple pouch I currently have mounted...I'm specifically looking for someone who has successfully modified the HD fairing mount and preferably some pics...gonna have someone attempt this for me or do it myself, but it depends on the level of diffulty. Thanks All! Replies to this topic will occur after Reply #12

Does anyone have pics of the fairing mount for the 660? I've only been able to see one angle on the MoCo's website and i looks to be mounted on or through the leather dashpad...I'm willing to bet that's not the case, but I just wanted to make sure. I have pouches mounted there, but would still like to mount the 660 to the fairing. If someone, that has already installed this, could please advise me on this and possibly post some pics with the 660 both on and off the mount that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

And one from the back.....you have to drill into the faring too....OUCH......but this was the look and mount i wanted. As long as you do not remove the pad or have it replaced if something goes wrong, you will never know the holes are there.

I guess from your question that you don't have the dash pad but you are thinking about it?  If you don't want/have the dash pad, the mount is a very sweet set up.  If you purchase the mount sold by the dealership, the mount that comes in the box attaches to it for a very clean almost factory looking install.  Check out my hi def video for a up close look.

Mano & Marine Aviator...thanks for the pics and video. They're helpful. I don't have the dash pad and I do have a 3-pocket pouch that covers that area. So I'm trying to see if the mount could be screwed in a little bit lower, just below that recessed area that the dash pad (or in my case pouches) occupies. Since you both have this mount in place, do you have any thoughts on whether this is possible? I'm currently forward deployed and I haven't looked inside my fairing to see if there are any limitations to this within. I am planning on this installation upon my return. Thanks for your input on this.

Oohrah brother! I'll take what I can get whenever I can get my hands on 'em...I enjoy throwin' a 20mm down range from a M-4 mounted 203 and (to quote Charlie Daniels) "get 'em steppin' and fetchin' like their heads were on fire and their asses were catchin'."

I appreciate the thoughts...

No Doc. If you want to use the same mount it is made to fit ON the lip of the faring/dash. It is made for that location only. Any screwing lower thanthat you would have to go into the dash face...ish. If you ever removed the mount the holes would show...ouch, this is why i went for the dash pad.....I love the look of the leather pad with chrome trim but if i ever decide to remove the mount(which is never..lol..but you never know) The holes will be hidden under the pad.

Ok, that's good to know...thanks Mano. I would like to be able to use the fairing mount and still utilize my T-Bags windshield pouches. Knowing what you do about the mount...will the fairing mount allow this? Thanks.

That T-bag sure is nice...but I know it wont work with the HD radar detector....or I'd have one. If it does not work..the 2 pouch HD bag is a not bad alternative.

Just went threw the description and it says......IT WILL NOT FIT. When i get a chance i will take some pictures and some measurements and post for you and then you can make the call if you would like to buy it. Doc,
The mount definitely will not fit with that 3 bag configuration.  The left side is directly where the mount is meant to be placed.  Looking at my set up, it does appear that the 2 bag configuration could work.   I don't know this for sure, since I don't have any bags to try it, but as you can see in my video it looks like you have the room.s

I actually got a look at one today and I see what you mean...It mounts over and through that pad...That kinda sux if you don't want the dash pad...I guess I'm gonna have to have someone make a custom mount out of that fairing mount, so that I can utilize my pouches. I'll let y'all know more when I have something from the drawing board...

Perhaps I might be able to help a bit...

I installed the new 660 dash mount and pad off the 2010 on my 2006 SEUC.  There is thread in the SEUC section that details all of the early trials and tribulations folks went through to sort this all out.

Anyway, I wanted to retain my HD two pocket and found with the padded dash, it wouldn't work so well.  So after thinking this through, I ended up drilling out the rivets in the bottom if the HD two pockets, and drilled new holes further out away from the windshield on that frame. I made them centered about 1/4" from the edge, straight out, and reattached the packets to the frame.  It works great.
