I feel the same way as you, I ordered the chrome but wasn't sure and now that it's on I believe it was the right choice. But I do think that if you had it painted to match Dark Slate it would look the best. Something I will think about till winter and then decide on changing or not.
As for the connector plate I did drill it. My advise is go buy the mount bolts because it does not come with 2 I can't figure out for the life of me the logic in giving you 2 of everything you don't need and 1 of the flanged 10mm bolts that you need 2 of to install.

(1) Stealth License plate frame
(1) 5" x 3 3/4" foam pad
(1) 2" shrink tubing
(1) Rubber grommet
(2) 8mm-1.25 x 20mm carriage bolts
(2) 8mm-1.25 hex nuts
(1) 6mm-1.00 x 10mm flange head bolts
(2) 8mm spacers
(2) 8mm flat washers

I don't see the 1 10mm carrage bolt in your list.   

Your point is that I should go get 2 10mm 1.25 carrage bolts (stainless--my preference) which will go thru the drilled connector plate and screw into the backing plate lugs. What is the thread? 20 or...? I am also going to get 2 nylon or plastic washers to place between the lugs and the fender.

The mounting bolts are 6mm-1.00 x 10mm flange head bolts.
Of coarse the nuts and bolts store didn't have that exact bolt so I had to buy two no flanged bolts and washers

Included Items:

I don't know.
It looks bitchin and you don't have to drill any holes in your fender so I will leave it at that.

I just didn't want to make two trips to the hardware store.

I wonder if the current shipping delay is due to refinements in the lug system on the backing plate.

They called me Friday and stated that they were indeed reworking the lugs on the back plates and they would be covering the back orders this week.  We will see, it has been 3 weeks since I placed my order.

Good to hear!! 

I thought I was the only one they didn't like.   

We must have ordered about the same time.

Maybe if we are lucky, they figured out how to avoid drilling the plug connector backing plate.

I want to install this thing before I go to Biketoberfest next Wed-Thurs.

We ran out of CVO back plates. They are making more and they should be ready this week.

By mistake I ordered the SLP3 and not the USLP3 :-(

Is the only different the connector?  I can get that at HD.

The SLP3 only has one bolt hole.  Does the USLP3 have two (one top and bottom?)

No, the USLP3 has two threaded holes across from each other which fits the CVO Street Glide perfectly

FWIW: I just received notification that my frame finally shipped today and will be here late next week (Thursday)

If there are any modifications to the new backing plate I'll post the differences.

Can you post a picture of the welded lugs on the backing plate, Im curious how they changed the welds.

I'll be happy to when it shows up.

I'll be in Daytona for Biketoberfest Thursday through Sunday so I won't see the new frame until I get home.

ALSO, I am going to go by the Kury trailer while I am there and satisfy my curousity regarding their new frame design. I'll take some pictures.

BTW: I hope the picture isn't of your newest frame backing plate is it?? I thought they fixed the poorly welded lugs awhile ago.
