jonga,
I wanted to go to a 150 myself for my last tire change, and the dealer told me that the compound of which the tires are on the Seegs are different from even the other tourers. And with that compound in mind there wasn't a 150 available. It would be of interest to me as well if a tire IS available that will handle the weight and wont come undone under my ass while im hitting high speeds, down a two-lane somewhere in the mountains.
 I'll be watching this too!

The tires all have load ratings.  So it's easy enough to check.  Just look it up.  If memory serves me correctly the Metzeler (for example) will fit just fine.  But if you check it's load rating for the ME880 in a 150 it is considerably lighter than the 130 or 140.  This is your ass you're talking about being on top of that tire though.  So don't trust conflicting reports from web-sters you've never met.  Just look it up on the tires or at the manufacturer's websites.

I remember searching for 150 series tires with load range 77 one time before, and the only one I found was an Avon Venom.

Reply #2 - Dec 11th, 2005, 11:42am  Quote   I've seen it used on two seperate occassions on an Eglide.  The belt guards do have to come completely off to make it work.  I, personally, wouldn't want to do it after seeing the damage that can be caused to both belt and sprocket with even a small pebble, twig or general road debri.  The softail tire is a softer compound, but haven't heard about the wear when installed on a heavy dresser.  I suspect the wear wouldn't be an issue unless you combined the heaveir weight with a lot of throttle twistin'.

I personally know a guy who put the fattest tire possible on the rear of his bike.  It went flat in the car pool lane and, as anyone who has ever experienced a flat knows, the side wall bulged out and the tire stopped turning.

Totaled bike = $21K ($32K plus in our case)

Hospital bills = $24K

Knowledge and common sense = Priceless

Well this reply is a little late, but I just wanted to thank all for their time to comment on my tire delima. After all your input, I'm going to install a 140 dunlap that has the weight rating and call it good. Once again, thanks to all and God bless this site for all it's help.... Jon
