What year/model is your bike?  I think they changed the touring specs a couple years ago.

It is always best to consult the manual for your particular bike for important specifications, and belt tension is important.  However, if you want "close enough", the attachment is the latest info I have from when Harley went to the 1" belt.  If not exactly the same for a 2010, I'm sure it's close.

If your belt is tight cold wait until it gets hot, even adjusted to the max tolerance they get snug when everything heats up and expands.

X2

Ride about an hour and your belt is really tight.

Belt tension are not "critical" settings like head or axle bolt torque, piston ring gap, and the like.  Avoid "banjo" tightness as this can harm bearings from excessive preload or too loose that can result in the belt jumping a tooth.  After the first couple thousand miles, retensioning should not be needed between tire changes, unless one does wheelies and burnouts regularly!

i have the belt tool and the axle nut wrench that will work with the mufflers on. got it to what i thought was tight... HA it rubbed some wires under the battery box and cost me 165 bux to have them fixed, plus the tow,  so yes belt too loose will ruin your day fast.

Hmmm....WHY are 09 and up any different?  I'd avoid a tight belt.

As I read it, Table I indicates a looser tension than previously recommended by 1/8-in for Ultras.
