Oil Level/Temperature Dipstick w/ Lighted LCD Read
« on: April 06, 2006, 08:30:39 PM »

Does anyone have any experience/history with this product?

Oil Level and Temperature Dipstick with Lighted LCD Readout

Check your oil level and oil temperature with the push of a button. Add function and style by replacing your stock dipstick with this hard working version. No more grabbing a rag to pull your hot dipstick. No more oil drips on your pipes and on the garage floor. Simply push the button and this chrome dipstick lights up with brilliant blue backlight. Oil level is indicated with a four segment readout - it even reminds you to check your oil when it is hot. Designed to be waterproof, the LCD display operates on a long-lasting, replaceable Lithium coin-type battery (CR2032 3V, P/N 66373-06). Display features a low battery indicator, and press-and-hold feature to toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius.

As in reviewed in someones post, if it was waterproof wouldn't state it?

Thanks for the feedback...

I bought one of the first ones when MoCo made it available and I have no issues with it.
I have been out in a rain storm and also washed my scooter and still don't have any water issues.
Guess the verdict is still out but it sure beats pulling the dipstick to check the oil.

Jeff, I didn't realize it had the level thing built in. Have you ever manually verified the electronic reading? Wonder how it does that...  [smiley=confused5.gif]

Some here have complained of these (old style temp only ones) blowing out while riding:  I've not had any issues with that, myself.

I have no complaints about mine. The level is accurate and I'm not aware of any problems with sealing. I really like it a lot. I suspect the temp is right on as well. When the temp hits 160 you can hear the idle change.

I have/had one of the original ones. It lasted about three years before it died. As stated above it is no big deal to pull the OEM stick and check it. I liked the LED for the temp. I will look into the new style as I could use a replacement.

As I have yet to get this item, which I will be soon, I have one question as far as the light goes. Does it come on only when the button is pushed then stays on for a short time, or goes off when the button is released? Or does it stay on till the button is pushed again?
