A Newbie..both here and on my Bike
« on: April 06, 2006, 08:46:13 PM »

Greetings all!

I am the proud owner of a FTLSFSE2, I took delivery a week ago.  I am very new to riding, but I have the type of personality that makes me jump into anything with both feet.  I've wanted to get a Harley forever, and when I finally did I just couldn't resist the SE.

No mods yet, but reading the threads on here has given me some ideas.

1)I know that I want to put some bags on it.  Someplace to stow stuff on loger rides, or even my jacket on a short one.  I think I also want them removable, with as little hardware showing as possible when they are off.
2) A new seat.  However, I may wait until someone comes out with a better single seat that retains the Chrome Ring.  I don't need a two up at this point.  My wife says no way she is riding with me, at least not yet.
3) Relocate the Turn Signals, and add the Passing Lamps.  Possible switch to an LED signal, for both the front and rear.  Laydown plate frame while I am at it
3) V&H 2-1 Pro Pipes, and remap the Injection system to match
4) Engine Guard and Highway pegs.

Any and all suggestions are certainly appreciated.  Glad I found this Forum!

Oh, I am grateful for the solo seat.  I know there is no way I should be riding with a passenger at tehis point, and having the solo seat removes any temptation to ride double.

Welcome to the site,
It's always great to see a new member with a FatBoy great choice, what color do you have.
You seem to know which direction you are going already & have also pre-spent a few dollars. But you haven't even scratched the surface yet. You will find out what I mean later.

he he he he he he he he he he he !

Hey DBD,
nice choice....................as I await my delivery, 3 weeks and counting.
Good advice is to listen to those with experience on here, alot of bike for a newbie. Live with it a while before you make decisions to change it.
Like I'm one to talk, still trying to get either Le Pera or Corbin to provide a replacement seat that fits the trim. But besides adding passing lamps and dropping the signals to suit, that's about it until I get on her.
Where's the pics??

Obviously, DFD is a scholar and one who possess great taste and has skilled decision making process (DMP). Welcome to the group. Now show us some PICS, please. And hide your wallet cause it will most definately jump ship into the vendors pocket just as fast as you can say "I'll take it".

Welcome to the board and welcome to the joys of ownership with a CVO. I agree you got a good start............can't wait to watch as your plans evolve over the next couple of years with your new girl. Be careful with her! Oh and holding on to your wallet..sure when they stop making chrome and other engine mods........ha ha!  Being new with a bike of this size just take your time and don't let your wrist write checks your ass can't cash. That kind are painful when they bounce!

Posting a Pic at this point is a little pointless, as it is simply a stock SEFB (Haze/Blue).  But, I'll take some and get them up as soon as I get the Digital Camera back.

I took my first "ride" today.  My buddy picked up his Softail Standard and we went out.  What a blast!!  I love the Bike, and am well aware that at this point, the bike is way more capable than I am.  Slow and easy is my Motto.  No Passangers, No Beers, no goofing around.

I can't wait to get back on it!!
