Ok, got a speedy reply from John Lazzeroni at J&M and he says the harness will be available "sometime in March 2011...we're almost there." In addition to the installation instruction PDF posted earlier in the string, he sent a PDF detailing the new BT headsets. In the lower right corner of the PDF you'll notice there is a part number and pricing for the harness (as well as all the other necessary gear). I hope this helps. Still playin' the waiting game...

Does anyone have any experience with the Nolan modular (flip-front) or Shark modular helmets? I really like the design of the Shark as it flips completely to the rear, but I'd like to know more about the Nolan as well. The reason being the retrofittable comms collar by J&M...Pros, Cons, and Comparisons welcome...Thanks

Thanks for the update.  I have worn a Shark Evoline since July 09 and really like it.  I sent it to J&M to install their wired premium headset and then went on a 6000 mile trip.  It works great.  I use a Zumo 550 and the Jim Bissonette BOMM piece to utilize my phone when paired to the Zumo on my 06 FLHTCUSE.  Sound on the headset is pretty good.  I also have a Shoei full coverage helmet with a Midland BT2 bluetooth headset to ride on my other bike (BMW 1200 GSA) pairing it to the BMW Navigator IV (BMW's version of a Zumo 660).  I'd have to say I prefer the Shark helmet for its flexibility, opening chin guard and almost no wind noise over the Shoei, but find the sound and fidelity of the Midland headset speakers a little better.  I looked at the Nolan but chose the Shark due to the ability to ride with it open faced.  Also have found the Zumo 550 on the Harley to function better using the wired phone and music setup than the bluetooth setup on the BMW, as the Nav IV system isn't very stable using bluetooth phone and music simultaneously. This seems to be a common problem from reviews on the Zumo Forum.   I've been interested in this thread because I'd like to use the Shark as my only helmet for both bikes, use my Zumo 550 switching it from bike to bike, and find a bluetooth system that will work reliably. A issue though in using the Zumo 550 with a bluetooth headset is the 550 doesn't transmit music in stereo, while the Nav IV (Zumo 660) does.  So.... I have a fair amount of dollars invested already in all this but don't have a perfect solution yet.  The new J&M setup sounds like it might solve my problem but at $329 for the dongle, $249 for a harness, and $299 for a headset, I would be ditching the Midland BT2 headset, the wired J&M headset, and a Shoei helmet - all of which cost almost as much already.  Maybe I just need to turn them all off and just enjoy the bike again!

ok, feedback from my local Sennheiser dealer:

1. Sennheisers - or any other known - bluetooth dongles will only serve output, so it's no solution if you want to talk over CB.

2. Sennheisers bluetooth dongles can be paired with any A2DP and apt-X compatible headset, as to his understanding that includes Cardo Q 2 pro, G 4 and Interphone F 4.

3. if the dongle is connected to the headset-wiring you are suposed to hear every input from the HK system like over a wired H-D headset but there is no bidirectional functionality: microphone will be useless.

4. if you use such a dongle paralell to a Zumo input your bluetooth headset must be able to manage multiple bluetooth sources as Scala Q2 pro or G4 does. The input from the dongle will than be managed as "2nd intercom" so it will be muted if navigation or telephone will come in. If BSR ("1st intercom") has priority over "2nd intercom" is doubtfull and has to be tested.

After all it's no solution if you want to use CB wireless. If you just want to listen to your HK's sources wireless, use a Zumo for telephone service and intercom is provided by your headset it should be a cheap and easy solution.

Well that certainly makes for some more questions to be answered by J&M...Thank you Hans. However, that would be very big misleading for J&M to misrepresent something of that magnatude and risk alienating their customer base...I'm willing to go out on a limb and say that I doubt very seriously they would do that. I will, however, pose the question to the company's President, whom I have been in contact with regarding this. I'll post his reply here. Thanks again.

don't misunderstand what I wrote: the Sennheiser dealer of course has no idea about what the J&M part still to be introduced may be capable to do. All he's talking about are bluetooth stereo dongles presently on the market for your home hifi and how those could possibly be used for our HK systems.

Definitely works bidirectional...to quote J&M..."same as OEM mic, just without the wires"...but again, it had to be asked and not assumed...so we wait for the release of the harness...

Hans, this looks to be some promising and interesting stuff...thanks for the link...albeit, way over my head technically, I will still follow and learn.

Looks like the harness for the Harley Ultra's are now available from J&M to hook all of the Harley sound system up to the new J&M BluHub dongle.  With the dongle at $329, a headset at $299, the harness at $249,  (whew!), who's going first? :coolblue:

Have you talked to them? I just checkd their website and it's not listed there with the rest of the BT items. I see the two different harnesses for Honda and one for Yamaha, but no HD yet. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place...

From the catalog, the J&M Connection Harness for the Harley Ultra to the J&M BluHub dongle is part no. JBLU-BHDG05-CA05 listed at $249.99.  The BluHub Dongle is part no. JBLU-BHDG05 listed at $329.99.  The various headsets available are HS-EBLU629EDR-** depending on the syle of your helmet listed at $299.99.  I'll need to decide if this is really worth replacing the excellent wired J&M hookup I now have on the Harley.  It would accomplish my goal though of wearing the same helmet (Shark Evoline) between my two bikes as the Harley would have the BluHub and the BMW's Nav IV system would (should) pair to the J&M headset.

You know I just ordered a Shark Evoline 2 ST helmet. I was waiting on them to finally get the Shark Tooth to market but got tired of waiting and just ordered the helmet. Everyone that I know who has this helmet absolutely loves them and the shark tooth was how this whole BT integration search started for me. It would've certainly been a more inexpensive solution because I probably would've done without the CB. How do you like yours?
