:2vrolijk_21:  That's a nice touch!

Yep

When you think about all the stuff he packs up for these things, it's nice he took time out to make sure a customer was taken care of. They've been good people at every stage of Lexi's many builds.

So the oil leak must not have been a porous cylinder?

:-\   Man that is ugly ! sure sorry to hear about it , the cost to build these motors are unreal....  can only imagine how you feel .I have have never been happy with the cam chain tensioners so on my last 110" i used ss geardrives , and with a good crank you could hardly tell they were in there, also used the fueling pump and camplate, there pump seems to have exceptional scavaging. Try to be patient ( i know its hard ) and build her back solid....

Ron told Jim that Axtell has a fix for the porous metal. Since Ron's the expert in the field, I defer to him.  :nixweiss:

Jim may have more info on this but we've been missing each others calls lately. He may chime in here or tell me more later.

Hey Buddy, cold enough up there in the great white north (almost Canada). Lexi is my problem child. Every other year she love to test me. I'll never total up what I have wrapped up in her as I think I'd cry. My have to be buried on this scooter when the time comes.

Ugly is one of the many words I've used to describe this latest drama. I'm sticking with the chain drive cams as I have two sets of TR590's already. I'm going to learn how to do an annual inspection ala Scott to eliminate this problem, I hope.

I'm putting in the Thayer 3 stage oil pump with an OEM cam plate that still has the bushing in it. The new oil cooler is due to the chance of tensioner particles within.  She's completely tore down, being cleaned and re-assembled. No telling what's next.

Update: Lexi's fired up!

How's this for a guy keep you up to date. @ 0153 hrs Jim leaves me a text message – “Just got it fired up……it’s a lot quieter. Little valve train noise but it was only running 2 min wooo hooo.”  You gotta love it when your builder adds a wooo hooo!

I spoke to Jim this morning. Lexi has a little valve train noise but is significantly quieter than before. Jim believes the Wood Directional Roller Lifters are still pumping up. He talked with Bob Wood at the Cinci V-Twin GTG at lenght on these lifters and how to set em up. Jim also told me the motor has quieted down even more after just two heat cycles.

Jim made a number of modifications to work on the noise issue. The lifters were not properly adjusted. The original adjustable pushrods showed some shiny areas from rubbing so these have been replaced with the adjustable SE tapered rods. The rocker boxes were not relieved on both sides so Jim relieved these areas also. All these modifications may have helped quiet the motor down. Jim feels boring and honing the cylinders was money well spent.

I also had Jim replace the HD oil cooler with a horizonal Jagg 10 row oil cooler.

Wooo Hooo! no pics.

:jack:...

As I read this I thought about something...

You're not as stubborn as you think... you do have a bike w/a fairing now...

I'm not as impatient as I thought... I waited patiently until you got a bike w/a fairing. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:
