Lowers for a 2009 cvo yellow
« on: January 26, 2011, 02:55:38 PM »

I am going to put on fiberglass lowers on my 09 road glide cvo. What have other owners done? I would like to put on ones with adjustable vents, but I have been told by Harley parts dept. that the 10s have them, but not the 09 bacause of the engine guard is different. Any advice is welcome!

Look here:  Who Has / Likes Lowers On Their SERG?  You might want to talk to LarryB or some of the riders who have lowers.  Good luck!

I have received the 2010 brackets and the difference is the 2 support brackets as well as the front support bracket. I have install them on the the 2009 SERG to accommodated the vented lowers. The customer wanted my custom leg warmers with my speakers kit that I make for the the electric glide. Here are the part numbers with pictures.

58454-10 Mount, LH/Frng - LWR
58460-10 Mount, RH/Frng - LWR
58530-10 MTG BRACKET - Frng

The parts guy is wrong about vented fairings.  Here is a list of parts you will need to install vented fairings.

BTW, yellow is by far the best looking SERG   :2vrolijk_21: :pepper: :apple: :carrot: :jalapeno: :cucumber: :pineapple:

Here's a photo to give you an idea how stock ones look like with the slate gray.

They make all the difference in the world with them on! Just remember the non vented ones

do not have the glove boxes. The vented ones do. However, as mention before, you need to get

the 3 mounting brackets that come on the 10's to use the vented lowers.

Good Luck!

I think is a very clean option for someone who didn't want to go through the expense of getting them custom painted.

Hi all,

With much advice,  I put on the Harley non vented and put glove boxes in place. My dealer gave me 20% off, and that helped. Have had them on two months and they are great! Road in the heat with no problems. Keeps the bugs off the pants.

Thanks,

Mark

All you have to do is buy the fairing mount brackets for the 10's and up and replace yours with them----- or Hells foundry makes an invisible lower fairing mount bracket that does the same thing ----allows you to use stock HD vented lowers.

You can get after market vents to put in your fairings and they look and fuction better than stock. :2vrolijk_21:

Lou (grandpadoc) has a really nice pair of vents (chromed) on his Road Glide but not sure what brand they are...you can send him a PM to find out.

Hoppe Industries......   http://hoppeindustries.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=152

Oh, just found these....I believe that they're the same vents that Lou has....  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HARLEY-LOWER-FAIRING-AIR-VENTS-NEW-CHROME-BLACK-/150622363626?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2311cadfea
