Keeping the faith
« on: April 09, 2006, 12:40:16 AM »

So many of my friends are buying sport cruisers. Suzuki V-Strom 1000's (2), Suzuki V-Strom (600), BMW 1200GT (2) and here's little old me with my FLHTCSE2. They have cruisers too, yet are changing to these sport bikes. Sold my Honda ST1300 to ride a Harley, do miss the ST cause it did eat miles big time, but it ain't a Harley. Rode home tonight just me and the highway and the winding roads and the moonlight... the Screamin Eagle rumble, the electra glide ride... and came to a conclusion. I love this Harley, the ride it gives, the sound it makes and the respect people give when you cruise down the rode. Amen as Hubbard would say.

I know what you mean BadAss2,
I have friends that ride and it is a mixed bunch of brands. There is the usual joking back and forth but it is hard to explain ( Not justify) the expense and devotion to the HD especially the CVO bikes.
I have a friend looking for a new bike right now and he has test rode Harleys,Hondas and some others. He looks at a bike as fun transportation and wants to do that as cheaply (within reason) as possible. He can't understand the reason to spend so much money to ride. He has even owned a Harley in the distant past too. He saw my Haze screen saver on my computer and said "Isn't this a bit much?"
I guess some people use a mototorcycle, car, truck etc. for basic transportation and others get emotionally attached and that paticular vehicle stirs something deep within us. 8-)
We all need to stick together though and not get divided.

Badass
There's two kinds of Harley RIders  THose that do it because their friends do or they think it's cool or it's a fashion or whatever. Then there's those who actually feel something of a kinship with their ride, the road and God's beautiful world as they ride through it. To them it is spiritual and satisying at a level most quite often inexplicable. You sound like one of those. You get it. That is good. Welcome brother . It is to us to keep the flame of Harley-Davidson burning when the fashion riders turn to prettier things. H-D is starting to get full of itself and arrogant again.Their quality control is slipping and their reaction to customer complaints is poor. As it was with the AMF years, so it will be again. We will see who the true Harley-Davidson people are.  I've pissed people off on this site for a variety of reasons and I am sorry for that. One thing I'm proud of though is that I have not complained about my Harley-Davidson. Like everthing in my life that I truly love and care for, I understand it is not perfect, but I love it all the more that.

Ride often, ride far and ride safe brothers and sisters

Yup Spidey you said it Bro. There are those who do and those that follow.Ride our bikes because we feel that covalent bond of wind, road and sight.A definate kinship with those who ride along side of us,to those people we would do anything for. They are our Brothers. As the old MOCO line goes"Live to ride,Ride to live." My 2 cents Later,Q

I think I might be a few neutrons short of a picnic. Here ya go
Covalent bonding is an intramolecular form of chemical bonding characterized by the sharing of one or more pairs of electrons between two components, producing a mutual attraction that holds the resultant molecule together. Atoms tend to share electrons in such a way that their outer electron shells are filled. Such bonds are always stronger than the intermolecular hydrogen bond and similar in strength to or stronger than the ionic bond. Just sayin [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Anything else ridden, is just not a Harley, and doesn't have the soul. And as the saying goes, "If you have ask, you wouldn't understand". Amen.

I go out of town every week for a few days most of the year for work. Its always nice to get back home to hug my little daughter.Call me nuts if you want but seeing my bike again after a few days of absence warms my heart in a similar way.No other bike other than a harley would ever make me feel that way.Its like meeting with a highschool buddy after long time.I know you get it i dont need to explain more.
Have fun ridin!!!!! [smiley=drink.gif]
