Need some advice on 2001 SERG
« on: February 03, 2011, 08:22:07 PM »

Just found this site and need some advice.
I have wanted a 2001 SERG for years and finally found one locally that I like.
It's a Black 2001 SERG with 21,000 miles. One owner, dealer maintained with cam tensioner upgrade & new rear tire all done at 20,000 dealer service. It also has SE slip-on mufflers.
What should I pay for it? Is $12,000 too much?
Thanks

If the bike is in good shape $12k is not too much.  Would be a fair price.  Hope you enjoy it.

You need to show us a picture before you make an offer.
It needs to be verified what's stock, what's missing and the condition.
12 sounds good but we need to see what 12 buys.

try this.

What I see on post # 7 is,

1) Not stock mufflers.
2) Rack on tour pak not stock.
3) Not the stock highway pegs.
4) The 01 SERG came with the standard length brake pedal, you will probably want to add the extended reach one.
5) Does the bike come with a CVO cover?
6) There should be passenger detachable backrest.

Show us more pictures and we can tell you more.
For example, is there a 12 disc CD changer in the tour pak?
Does it have the correct light bar on the rear?
Much more can be determined, we need pictures.

There's also one of those heel thingy's ( thingy, a term I learned from Don) that's suppose to protect the pipe from your boot.

Thanks SBB, those are the only pics I have right now. Yes, it has the original cover plus a rain cover. He also has the original heal toe shifter (he put extended ones on). It does have the original spoiler on tour pack. I hate the luggage rack but it's there now so I have to deal with it. 12 disk changer is there too. Everything works!
It also comes with a floor jack.  I've seen the maintenance history and everything looks good. I like that the cam tensioners were upgraded.
I really can't find any flaws other then the rack. The add-on other stuff can come off.
I have not found one nicer around here for this price. I would hate to lose it but if 12,000 is too much then I'll keep looking.

Unless there's a hidden surprise, IMO, 12K is a fair price....   :2vrolijk_21:

I'll check on the passenger back rest. I'm sure he has it since he seems to have everything that came with it.
The tour pack is detachable correct? Does it come off easily?

I should also tell you that I have been riding my 1978 Electra Glide for 25 years. This SERG will feel like a dream ride... I hope.

Don and Scott are correct, 12K is fine.
Mine is for sale for 80K and it has 3K more miles than the one your looking at.
When you get it, take some front, rear, other side, and top pictures.
Good luck with your purchase and there is a SERG registry you need to post in.
Always remember, a Classic SERG was the first of the Screamin Eagles and IMHO has yet to be topped!

SBB

The tour pak is detachable!  :2vrolijk_21:
It's a pain the first time and after about 5 times it'a breeze.
