cover for Softail Springer...
« on: February 11, 2011, 11:00:54 PM »

I plan on taking some trips this Spring and the bike will most likely sit outside at the hotels.

What covers do you use for short term use?

I had bought a H-D cover that the dealer said would fit the bike, but it turns out it was too small and I gave it to my friend that has a Sportster and it fits that bike just fine.

What are other brands of covers other than H-D?  I have looked at those on eBay, but without any information about size or quality it is difficult to choice one.

What do you guys and gals use?

Based on another thread on here, I picked up the following.  Works great, not expensive, and fits well.  I did have to order it from Walmart, they didn't have it in stock in the store.  Paid $44.88.

Classic Accessories MotoGear Deluxe Motorcycle Cover

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5982682

There are 3 sizes, you want the cruiser size •102"L x 46"W x 62"H

Even fits when I put the windshield and sissy bar with bags on, has heat shields on both sides, and vented.  :2vrolijk_21:

I just sent an email to Exigent and it came back and said it wasn't any good....I wonder if they are still in business?

I will also look at the Wal-Mart cover.....did you like the Wal-Mart cover and did you feel it was thick enough fabric and good quality?

That is an awesome solution.  Looks like it would pack very small, so you could keep it with you at all times in case of rain.  :2vrolijk_21:

I liked it very much.  It comes with a bag to stuff it in.  It is very durable and not a lightweight material.  I would say that to pack it on the bike it would take most of my swing arm bag to carry, with little room for other things.  I have another bag I put it into when I take it with that sits on top of my t-bag.

Here's the dimensions of my swing arm bag to give you and idea of size when packed.

Swingarm bags 10 1/2" wide, 4 1/2" thick and 12" tall at front.  Given the slope of the bag, I could stuff a .5 litter soda, spare set of lightweight gloves, and a micro-fibre towel rolled up in there.

This is a great cover, high quality waterproof and comes with a storage bag.  You won't regret it, all my buddies have it as well.
