Is there any other way to load this I pod with out useing I Tunes?Any other programs out there that will work? Pain in the A-- loading up the PC with all the I tunes play list. If you delete the play list it also deletes the I pod. Any thoughts?

there is no other way.  Itunes/Apple one in the same and they protect each other very well.  I got smart and got ICLONE, and coverted all my music in Itunes to MP3 format and then copied them to a SD card.  Now if and when I change laptops I don't have to go through the hassle of worrying about my music.  I have 1256 songs on a SD card, if you want to buy a card and send it to me I will copy it for you.  Then all you have to do is copy and paste to the "automatically load to Itunes" folder and presto!  My music is wide spread, mostly 70's/80's
