Thanks a ton for the answers Jim, I thought I knew what they were but just needed someone to confirm them.  :2vrolijk_21:

So what I'm planning in round one....with Jim's blessing of course =)

01) New valve guides
02) Fueling Reaper 574 cam and associated stuff
03) SE adjustable pushrods
04) .030 Cometic gasket
05) Crank work
06) Timken bearing
07) Vance and Hines true duals
08) Paul Yaffe modified CFR slip-ons
09) Paul Yaffe 12" monkey bars
10) Heat Demons
11) TTS Mastertune
12) Tuned by Bob

So that's where I'm at, any thoughts about it please speak up.  Going to post the dyno off my 07SERK for the heck of it, still really curious if those numbers were true or not :nixweiss:

Mr Ed
Since you're listing things and mentioning exhaust, once you get all your parts nailed down for your build, talk to Jim about his feelings on Bassani for your exhaust system. As I've said, every build is different, but I've seen some awesome rides put together using Bassani. You've asked us to critique and I've tried not to be critical in that, but in my honest opinion, the Bassani system is a LOT better than the V&H

And while Jim has not built a motor for me, I've done some business with him and read the advice he's given to people on this site over the years as well as the kudos from everyone who takes their ride to his shop. I think you've made a great choice there and will be glad you've picked him. He's a stand up guy and knows his chit. What more could you ask for in your choice of a tech ?

One final piece of advice. Hang onto your used parts. While it seems right now that you're only going to have a bunch of this and that you'll be surprised to find a few years and several more engine builds down the road - - this and that adds up to nearly a complete engine. Beags and I could have easily built two stock TC's by now from when we were modifying everything in site and letting the used parts go out the door for a bottle of Makers. Even if we only got a grand or so on them we'd have had Mo Money for Mo Parts  ;)

Hmm....not really digging the loop thing on the Bassani duals.  Looks kind of goofy ?

And can someone weigh in on wether that posted dyno of my SERK looks believable, cuz the more I see other ones I'm doubting it..../shrug

I personally do not care for the bassani duals either. Have you looked at the D&D fatcat with a falsee? Another option would be the x-pipe with 2" cores in your stock muffler cans. Or the x-pipe with other good slip-ons (even possible the CFR's). You will be much better off with these than any of the true dual options. On your previous dyno sheet your torque is fairly flat below 3K and that is a result of the exhaust. A 2-1 system will come on better on the bottom end.

Site member Bubba_T has a nice hot rod 103 with Bassani duals and it runs better than any 103 I've seen or heard of. His build was entirely using parts suggested by Dave Mackie including the Bassani and whether I like the loop or not, this thing is a beast. You want looks, you get looks, you want performance, sometimes you gotta sacrifice some looks. There's good pipes that blend the two but not without some loss somewhere (JMHO)

Well...this whole thing could very possibly take quite a different turn :7:

I've been sick with the dang flu or I would have already talked about it.  Tell you what...at 50....a 101+ temp for two and a half days feels like a near death experience..../sigh.  Here's the short version because I really feel like crap....

Based on cost, gains, goals, warranty, forum wisdom and what common sense I might have.....

"Option A"
01) New valve guides
02) Fueling 574 cam
03) SE adjustable pushrods
04) .030 Cometic gasket
05) Crank work
06) Timken bearing

"Option B"
01) Sell my stock 110 with a 1000 miles on it
02) Cancel my 7 year extended warranty on the SG and process the rebate
03) Buy either the crate or kit 120R / to be discussed with Jim and whichever way allows me to license and insure it in WA State
04) HPI throttle body
05) Injectors
06) ACR harness
07) Clutch upgrade

I took the crank work and Timken bearing out of option A because I've come to the same conclusion....at a certain point it doesn't make sense to go much farther with a stock 110 motor.  There's a price point where the 120R isn't just an option, but maybe the best choice.  From what I've been reading, much past option A that becomes a reality, especially if much headwork and crank work is planned.

A 120R fits within my goals, more power than what I need yes, but better to have more than you need than not enough.  It would allow me to take the performance hit from the exhaust system I want, and still be well beyond a 110 even with the BEST exhaust set up.   If I sell my motor and get my warranty money back, which buy the way would be voided anyhow if I did what I really wanted to on the 110, it really wouldn't cost me much more to go the 120R route rather than the upgrade route on the 110.

I see why JC did what he did, and that's still a great choice and one that I still might make, but to go much beyond that, option B starts to look very  appealing.  Jim what do you think about it ?...have you installed one yet ?....what's your thoughts ?....you're going to do the work either way so speak up  :P.... JC ?....anybody else thats got an opinion I would love to hear it.

You know my set up and you've seen my dyno sheet.  It's got all the power I need and I can still ride it where ever I want to without having to worry about it breaking down.  A little over 25,000 miles on it and put down a few hundred more riding with some of the boys today (twistin the throttle and bangin through the gears).  It still does what I want it to!

For me......I just don't need to go any further with it.  And if it breaks......I've still got the factory warranty.  Once the factory warranty is up, Jim will be doing all my extended warranty repairs, anyway. :2vrolijk_21:

By the way, I know that you're pretty bent on true duals.  I'm just going to suggest.....if you go the route that I went (plus the cometic gaskets) go ahead and try the 2" Fullsac baffles in your stock exhaust and have Jim remove the cat.  Just ride it a week or two that way.  If you don't like it, then change the exhaust and sell the Fullsac's.  There's a reason they're so popular and look at the savings you have over buying another exhaust sysstem.  I'm just pretty damn sure that you'll be surprised and impressed to the point that the desire for true duals will quickly fade.

LOL....I like the way you say things JC....sick or not sick....it makes me smile....I like it when someone says what's on their mind straight up  :2vrolijk_21:

To be as honest and accurate as I can be.....it wasn't just the true duals....although I do think they look good....clean lines and balanced in the back....but them with the CFR slip ons produced a sound that...well.....yes I liked a lot....as did my wife.....but most importantly.....let me quote myself from another thread....

I certainly don't want to open up a can of worms or start a big *ss debate here....BUT....since I've traded my SERK in on the SG and have been running a stock exhaust, I've had more near misses in the last few months than I've had in all three years on the road king.  The SERK was my first bike with a really loud exhaust system on it and I don't care what anybody says....loud gets heard and people look.  I'm not condoning ripping thru residential areas at 5 in the morning...or breaking the sound barrier on a peaceful Saturday afternoon....but there's a simple reason why police cars, ambulances and fire trucks have sirens.

I loved the true dual setup on the SERK with CFR's, a very deep and noticeable sound even at low rpm that really wasn't that obnoxious unless you wanted it to be, but people knew somebody was somewhere.

I have no idea how many near misses I actually avoided because people heard me and knew I was there....simply because they never happened....for all I know I've avoided one that otherwise could have taken me out.....it's an unknown thing.....what I DO know is....I've had so many more of them since I traded the the SERK in on the SG....to say it's got my attention is an understatement.  I don't know all the different set-ups and their corresponding sound differences....I just know what produced the one that just possibly helped keep my butt alive....that's the major reason I'm a little clingy to the true duals AND the CFR's.

Now with that said....what you proposed is a hell of a good idea actually if I go with option A....other than needing a retune if I simply couldn't live with it....could someone who might know weigh in on what that might sound like....stock head pipes with no baffle and Steves 2" cores ?
