Another Zumo 665 question
« on: February 19, 2011, 02:33:11 PM »

Hey everyone, do you have to buy a XM antenna for the 665 to operate the XM feature?  :nixweiss:

The 665 should come with the antenna.  I can't comment on the Garmin version, but I do know at least the HD version does.  It's a GXM 40 antenna.

However, if you mount the antenna inside the fairing, it would be hard to relocate the antenna to your vehicle if you should want to use the GPS and XM in both places.  In this case, you would need to either buy and extra one for the car, or find a way to move the antenna between the two locations like some on here have done.

From what I have read on here, the XM subscription is actually tied to the antenna and not the GPS.  So if you do buy a 2nd, you'll have to activate both and pay for two subscriptions.

The antenna is not cheap either.

Hope this helps,

Jeff

X2.  That is all true regarding the 665.  I went through that entire maze on this forum when I purchased my 665.

I had my 665 installed at the dealer. The antenna comes with the 665. They mounted mine on top of the radio.
