Nolan N-103 Helmet

I've got the N-102...has anyone tried the N-103, and if so, how do you like it?  Seems as though the sun screen being on the inside of the outer shield might be a nice feature.   :nixweiss:

Terrie and I both switched over.  The sun shield was the main reason. :2vrolijk_21:

As you know, the Nolan's are pricey.  But that sun shield at your fingertips is huge anytime that you'e riding into the sun.....especially when the sun is low on the horizon and the sunglasses just aren't enough. :2vrolijk_21:  Plus the wireless intercom.  Also, we both noticed that the battery charge lasts longer than it did in the 102s.

Thanks, JC...those were my thoughts exactly.  While the 102's have the sun shield too, it's outside, and in it's fully lowered position, it bothers me because the bottom edge is in my line of sight.  Something I read said that the sun shield on the 103 was close enough to your face so that you didn't notice the "line" at the bottom.  Plus, the 102 sun shield is always wanting to get blown down, even when you don't want it, unless you have it all the way back.  I don't need the wireless stuff, but I see where J&M makes a nice wired headset already installed in the 103.  Is Jim a dealer for Nolan/J&M?

I forgot to mention one of the biggest benafits.  The Nolan N-102 was the quietest helmet I ever owned and thought there couldn't be one quieter.  The N-103 is that much quieter!

The sun shield stays where you put it.  So if you're riding with the face shield up and the sun shield down and you catch a bug in your line of sight, just raise the visor a bit and it will stay there until you can clean your sun shield. :2vrolijk_21:

Too bad NOLAN doesn't make the 3XL for my melon.  SCHOEI 1000 and 1100 still are god for me.  I may try the SCHUBERTH.

How much roughly do they go for in the USA?  They are very pricey here, so its worth while to ride to Syracuse NY to pick one up and ride back with it... take one of my crap helmets down and toss it  :D

Cheers

Just the helmet?  3-350 US, give or take a little bit.  If you have the right head shape, there is no better helmet out there, IMO.  It is built for a round/oval shaped head...a little closer on the temples.  I love the fit, and have been using them since the late 70's, when I always wore a full face, all the time.

I'm ugly enough without scraping my face off with a face plant on the asphalt, so a full face is all I wear.

Luckily I'm of Celtic decent, not German, so the helmets I have tried on fit my roundish head.  They are like $500 Can, or on todays exchange rate, about $515 US

Get prepared for your daily chuckle from an ignorant member...

Nolan N-103 Helmet

Integrated Corded v. Integrated Bluetooth

  • Can the Bluetooth version utilize a cord too for those members with an Ultra Classic
  • Can't the new Zumo 660 connect via Bluetooth with a Bluetooth phone on a corded version

I guess when you get down to it...If you have a wired communication system in the Ultra what are the advantages/disadvantages of Integrated Bluetooth?

Suddenly I feel like I am 80 years old!

 :(
