Yeah, there is a thread in the General CVO section about it.  I think that we have found out that some dealers do it, and some don't.  My dealer, I later found out, sends them for all new bikes they sell...not just CVOs.  Very cool, especially when you don't expect it.

My dealer (Red River Harley,Texas) gives a certificate. They call it a birth certificate because it tells orgin of motor assembly and origin of bike assembly. [smiley=drink.gif]

I received a Plaque in mail after I bought a 2004 Ultra Classic, Didn't expect it,
Dealer, Austin HD    lets it be a supprise when you receive it.

Man was I impressed.

I told my salesman (David Bigley)about my supprise, he said, with a smile, the dealership does this as a THANK YOU FOR YOUR BUSINESS. ( I also so got a good deal on bike).
A Damn Fine Bussiness Practice.

My riding buddy got his SEEG in Peoria, Illinois.  He got both a birth certificate and placque.  I got my SEEG in Clinton, Iowa.  I got neither a certificate nor a placque.  Also I got no response to the letter I wrote asking about both.  That was lousy on their part.  Caveat Emptor/buyer beware.  The new generation Harley dealer sometimes leaves a lot to be desired.  People ask me why we all stop at Harley dealerships whenever we're traveling and I respond with "it is just a habit as when I was a kid that was the only places we were welcome and every dealer was glad to see us and carried different accessories than the others".  Now, I actually see dealers walk to their curbs and invite anyone riding a Harley older than an EVO to leave and I've seen their shop foremen turn down work on anything older than an EVO.  Their reason is "we don't want those oil leaks messy up our designer shops". [smiley=thumbsdown.gif]  Their choice, I guess.  But someday soon those attitudes may just bite them in the butts. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

The dealer I bought from was definately old school, been the owner since '69 (ya know the kind that don't want anything to do with motor-clothes). Glad I bought their and would buy their again. [smiley=laugh.gif]
