? about changing bars
« on: February 24, 2011, 08:07:15 PM »

I am want to change my bars for the 10" Paul Yaffe monkey bars on my 2010 FLHXSE. Will I need to change cables or anything? Or will I get by with just changing the bars.

50/50 shot..HD aint known for tight tolerances in cables, plus or minus and inch or two......

or anythin else for that matter.002 on rotors 12thou  on the friggin crank...

I ordered them and used em...I maybe coulda got away with rerouting but...wanted to finish it.

I would imagine 10 inch bars would be a plus size line. Mine was wo575 from stock + 2.5 up and back

Seems like I remember seein' a few folks posting those mods here and if I'm not mistaken the 10" didn't have to make a change...Call Yaffe and find out...they're great to talk to and will answer all your questions...I've talked with ruiner73 about his 12 MBs...he might also be able to shed some light...

It's funny, on the crank and other critical engine parts they have huge tolerances but give you a little extra cable so when you (nearly everyone) find you need longer bars, you have to spend $$ to extend just a couple inches...SNEAKY :coolblue:

Ahaaa, someone is catching on...

I have seen cables plus or minus 2 inches... had a new then old roadking with tight as pluck clutch cable, the new one I put on was almost 3 inches longer...and the cable too... :P..

Go figger, you can have a running change on crank runout, maybe cables as well.

I put the 10" Yaffe Monkey Bars on my 2010 and didn't have to change anything.  Works just fine with stock cables and wires.  Only wires that have to be lengthened a bit are the ones on the throttle side for use with heated grips.

I went with the 12' so I did have to change out cables but you can use the stock mirrors with the 12".
