License Plate
« on: April 18, 2006, 01:03:38 PM »

Just went to install the license plate on my new Haze.  Doesn't fit.  The reflector on the bottom of the bracket extends up too high so that the holes on my plate don't match up with the mounting holes.  Anyone else have this problem?  What did you do to solve it?

Pretty cool huh??? $32k for a motorcycle and it doesn't even accept the standard sized M/C plate correctly!

I just extended mine over the reflector a little bit & made sure it was even. It'll do for now till I figure out/hear of something better.

Good topic to post!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

You can also work the bottom of the license under the reflector, then install your screws. That's what I had to do.

I tried that.  Couldn't get it under the reflector far enough.

Obviously some Harley engineer had a severe case of "anal crainal inversion" when it came to the license plate holder.

Good idea... I think I'll go home tonite and just rip off the reflector all together and be done with it.  ;)

Guess I was in too much of a hurry to go riding the new bike, that I just ripped off the reflector and stuck the plate on.

Been meaning to replace/relocate the reflector though,

The dealer ripped the reflector off and put his frame with the cheesy little round reflectors.  I bought the HD frame and a reflector came with it.  I guess that is what your talking about.  I put the reflector where the original one was and put the bottom of the plate over the reflector  with enough showing and them installed the frame with only two screws because I did not want to remove the tour pak to put the top two screws in.

Unbelievable that a company that makes a $32,000 motorcycle can't figure out where to place the holes in the mounting bracket.  Makes one wonder, doesn't it?
