Speedometer correction
« on: February 26, 2011, 01:26:19 AM »

If I install the 30 tooth sprocket and 139 belt on my '09 SERG can the speedo be recalibrated with the SSERT?  Steve at Fullsac mentioned that the TTS has the capability but didn't know about the HD device-anybody??

I don't think so.   I'm gonna have the same problem as you.  Plan to do the 30T deal soon but only have the Harley tuner deal.  Dakota Digital has a deal to chg the speedo,  but using it will screw up your ability to use your "cruise control" per my understanding.

If you figure out a solution,  be sure to post it here.  (Meantime,  BEFORE you make the swap, it would be a good idea to notate your tach readings at 60mph and 70mph, etc. in 5th gear and maybe 75-80 in 6th  gear so you can use the tach after the swap.)

To date we at TTS are the only product that will allow you to correct the speedometer setting within the ECM. There are other devices that cut into the wiring but most of them cause the speedometer to read correct but now the cruise control doesn't work.

I have had a lot of success using a speedo-healer on various bikes but never used one on a Harley.
I sent them an email for any info with regard to it causing problems with cruise control operation.

I'll post up any response I receive.

I'm kind of remembering that folks have also indicated a problem with the 6th gear light as well as the cruise control when they've changed the final drive ratio.  Not that the 6th gear light is an essential thing, of course, but just thought I'd mention it.  As Harley continues to slowly step into the modern world of electronics, we will find more and more of these situations where mods that were simple in the past are now much more involved (and expensive).  Just one of the prices of progress.  Of course, if you were in the market for a tuning interface and software package anyway, then it's no big deal as long as you buy the right one.

Heard back from heal-tech ... they mention that they have seen the cruise control issue but also implied that it wasn't wide-spread. They also noted that they have a full 100% money back gaurantee:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for your email and for the kind words!

We did hear once or twice that the cruise control quit working with the SH
installed. We did not have the chance to investigate this and have not heard
back from the customer.

If you decide to give it a try, you need to know there's a money back
guarantee on our products.

Please order from the distributor:

Install on my previous bikes was plug and play so it isn't a major deal to try it ... at ~$115 (and if it works of course) it's a cheaper option than a tuner if all you need is speedo correction.

Hope this helps ...
