I will preface the following by admitting I am anal: Okay, I picked up my oil gauge today...not sure what location I will mount it, but I did notice that the needle on the gauge is not an exact match to the other gauges.  Besides not having the pin stops, the tip of the needle is actually offset downward as opposed to the other gauge needles that are on the same plane. I'm probably not explaining this too well but for those of you who have the oil gauge in hand compare the needles on the new gauge versus existing.  Nonetheless, the gauge is a close enough match that you probably wouldn't notice it anyway. It certainly is not going to stop my install. Sometimes I wish HD's attention to detail was a bit better. PJ

D00d, it's just "one of those things."  The stock rain gauge frustrates me.  I just hate worthless instrumentation.  This will actually tell me something that could potentially be helpful or diagnostic.  At the least, it's not a dumbass idea like the rain gauge.

I don't care what it looks like or how difficult it is to install. Does the friggin thing work?! Or, is it yet another air temp, voltage, fuel guage that is less than functional. My fuel guage was adjusted by dealer and it now works. My voltage guage reads 15.5 volts quite often. Dealer says charging at 14.4 max. And we all know about air temp. Sorry, twice bitten...

Borrowing from the NFL zebras, "After further review....."

You won't believe how incredibly stupid some wanker engineer at the MoCo was and with what poor attention to detail he or she did their job.  They (finally) made us a hopefully usable oil temperature gauge to replace the rain gauge.  And it is a perfect match to our instruments.  It's just a perfect match to the wrong ones!  ;D

Here's a side by side of our 2" instruments and the new oil gauge.

The new gauge has a notch in the needle and does not have the stops at the end of the needle travel.  Everything else is a dead on match.  Our other 2" gauges do have stops at the end of the needle travel and do not have that notch in the needle.

Does that mean that the needle illuminates like the speedo/tach needles do?  That would really be noticeable at night. [smiley=confused5.gif]

103T - I'm sorry I even brought this whole thing up in the first place, but you're probably right.

Well, if they can't match paint, why should we expect them to be able to match gauges? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

:-[ Sorry guys, I feel like a real jackass! I didn't notice the big difference in the needle. I guess I just looked at the tail on the needle and assumed it was a match. This pisses me off! I've been told before that I'm way too anal when it comes to fine details...well I guess I missed this one!! I even took pressure gauge out and compared it to the other oem 2" gauges. Sorry I missed it!! And to think some of you ordered it on my word :-[

Very sorry for the inconvenience

The damn thing was most likely made in Mexico or Taiwan. The mofoco's just told 'em to match the gauges...and they matched it to the tach & speedo  >:( I'm calling those bastids on Monday >:( >:(
