One thing you will notice when dealing with insurance is that the rates vary quite widely by state.  When Progressive doubled my rate back in '04/'05, I called and asked point blank how they could double the rate on a 5 year old and getting older every day bike, and a rider with a spotless record and no claims (ever).  The answer was that Indiana had experienced a large surge in claims the previous year, and that all of their rates in the state were adjusted upward.  It seems that rather than look at their profits across the entire nation, they look at each state individually and boost rates to maintain the maximum profit margin allowed by the state regulators.  I guess the secret is to move somewhere where there are no people, therefore no traffic and very few accidents.  Wonder what the rates are in the middle of Death Valley???

Lots of good input and a HUGE variation in pricing. Company to company and state to state... [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
Now I have my coverages all neatly pdf'd, I am going to get quotes from all of the mentioned companies for me/Kaz, my address in California, my bikes and my coverages to see an apples to apples comparison.

I'll report back when I get it.[smiley=stars.gif]

in MA i pay around 1500 for one CVO

I think MA is a closed market, no competition of any sort.  See this old article from 2004.

It is an OPEN market for anybody that wants the rates set by the (nanny) state...

Ah, another socialist state.  Our Medical insurance is similar.

I guess you wouldn't want MA controlling the price of gas, based on how well they evidently control the insurance rates.

I've got to highly recommend Foremost. $347.00 a year with full replacement value & full optional equipment coverage. Plus every year without a claim reduces your deductable $50.00. (my deductable is $250.00)

I'm not!  Step 9, Commersce, 250/500, 1000 deductible, comprehensive/collision ...1798 for the ultra!

But hey, Ultramellon, if you want to put a few more (albeit wet) miles on your scoot meet at 11:00 on the westbound rest area of the masspike just past I495.

Just got a quote today from Farmers Insurance - $218.00 full year. Conditions: Have to also insure my cars to get this rate and there is no suspension/storage mode for this policy, its full coverage all year. Turns out they can save me $800 per year on my auto policy which includes three vehicles and an 18 year old driver. (Compared to AllState). I carried my bikes on State Farm last year. Farmers is saving me about 40% compared to that. I don't have my SEUC yet (black crimson slate due to ship 5/3), but I got a timely flyer in the mail from Farmers which as it turns out will be the most economical MC insurance policy I've had since I got my first Harley in 1992. BTW, I'm in Ohio near Cleveland.

I was with Farmers for over 25 years, I switched to State Farm, saved a lot of $$$ on all vehicles, Im in the $50 a month range on my Cuse, thats no deductible and full replacement value, plus medical for anyone I take out including myself up to 1 million. Farmers wanted 3 times that for the Cuse, and wouldnt touch my custom Fatboy. So much for being a Loyal customer and a safe driver.
