What color orange???
« on: March 10, 2011, 09:42:31 PM »

Hello guys. Have an '04 orange and black  SEEG and just found a good deal on a used tour pak for it. It won't be a quick detachable unit but will only take about twenty minutes to install it for a long trip. Problem is, the pak is not even close to the right color so I'll have to get it painted. Thinking about painting it orange with maybe some red pinstriping to match the rest of the bike. Do any of you know what the orange color number actually is? The brochure only calls it "Orange Pearl" and maybe that is enough for a paint guy to go by, don't know. Have just now started checking on it and have not even talked to any painters yet (or Harley). Thought I'd do a little research first. Anyone out there know the color, give me a shout. Mike at mbr@sc.rr.com and thanks.

Has anyone on here found a painter that can match the Orange Pearl? My right side bag has a pretty good scratch and Harley will only sell the touch up. They wont sell me a Qt. (even though I bought her new and they have my vin on file).

That's great, but I'm in Virginia. If you have a number for them I'll call and see if they can mix me up a qt.
Thanks!

The Orange on our bikes is a three part process. Orange base, pearl and then the clear coat. It is in the PPG library under another name. If you find a PPG mixer they can match it up. When my painter did some work for me he had a lot of trouble. He ended up mixing the orange and pearl together then finished with the clear coat.

Hello Guys-

I'm in need of a paint code (or something very close) for my Orange '04 SEEG. I purchased a set of Cycle Sounds saddle bag lids and my painter didn't get the color right on. He's repainting them at no charge and I told him I'd do some foot work to get us on the right track.
Friday I plan on taking my o.e.m. lids to a body shop supply (ppg dealer) to get them matched up. But if the info's out there I know one of our CVO members will have it :2vrolijk_21:

My new painter is Ryan Fielding, the owner/builder of Paragan Customs in Sauk Prairie, WI http://www.paragoncustoms.com/home.html

Thanks for your time & efforts,

Mark

My dealer in Virginia says they can not only get the paint in small touch-up kits but by the quart or gallon too. They said it was expensive but available.
You may want to check with your local H-D dealer. The one who told me they could get paint was Southside Harley in Virginia Beach, at least that was a couple of years ago. I don't know if policies have changed?
