Spontaneous ride to Big Sur for lunch........
« on: March 13, 2011, 01:11:20 AM »

A bunch of the Nor Cal CVO group rode to Napenth for lunch today.  This ride was put together in less than 24 hours and a nice turn out.

On Pashnit, Beemer Bum asks
Quote
Now for the dumb question... Does that red bike have oil coolers installed in front of the riders legs and kind of behind the front tire?

He's asking about the photo of Terries bike at the Post Office where we met Michael, Mitch, and Andy. He's asking if her lower fairings with vents is an oil cooler.

We were all starting to get hungry when we stopped at the Post Office. Somebody mentioned that the BBQ was smelling good there and if that was where we were going to eat. Then we found out it wasn't BBQ but it was Andy being cooked in his heated gear.

Carole and I enjoyed the great day for a great ride and seeing everybody.

Thanks for the opportunity to ride with and meet with you all again.  :2vrolijk_21:

I left this morning just after 5:30 AM and returned home just after 8 PM logging 517 miles.  What a ride!  Enjoyed the in your face, weathered ride on the softtail, but really wish I pulled this ride on the bagger.  :nixweiss:  Hope I get it back before next month hits.

Anyway, I had a great time.  For those of you that I didn't get to say bye to, till next time we meet or the Solvang GTG/June GTG, whichever comes first.

Just think, 5 months ago, I had just started riding and ran into you guys with only about 200 miles under my belt, and all done never leaving my city.  On my first ride with you guys, I tripled my mileage and did a number of firsts like riding on the freeway.

Today I hit a few new milestones.  I hit 5K miles on the Springer.  Even though I bought it with 2008 miles on it, I have logged about 1980 miles on the Limited.  So not only did I hit 5k on the bike, I rode my five thousandth mile today.  I knew when I bought the bike that I wasn't going to leave it parked in the garage, but I never thought I'd be averaging 1k miles a month, and this was all through the off season.  :D

Thanks for showing me the roads worth riding, giving me tips, helping me through some serious moments, and the new friendships.

And now for the few pictures I managed to snap with my phone.

First one, the view of the water taken when we were all lined up against the wall shown at the start of this thread.

Seems I have a pattern of when I take shots, I start from the left, and pan to the right.

You can just make out one of the roads to ride on the left side.

The view looking over and down past the railing that kept me from trying out a new sport.

Last one, the road is clearly visible now.

Figures I didn't get any shots with bikes or people in it, but I think these work just as good.
