CVO 110 Heat: oil cooler, fan or both
« on: March 20, 2011, 11:26:18 PM »

I recently purchased a 2010 Softail convertible and am concerned about running hot once we get our 90+ degree days in DC this summer.  I ride to the lake every weekend with lots of stop and go until I get far enough out of town.  Parts guy at Patriot Harley told me to get the HD oil cooler.  He indicated the fan isn't advised for the 110 engine.  I wanted to know what others have done. Oil filter, fan or both?

I'd start with a tuning device and a tune...  I'm sure it's running lean - as that's how they come from the factory..  :2vrolijk_21:

My 2011 CVO Street Glide came with an oil cooler. My other bike is a 2009 Fat Boy with a 103, I added the oil cooler. I had a 2006 Street Glide with 95, and a 2010 Road Glide with 103 and added an oil cooler to both of them. Never had a fan.

Talk to some of the Tri Glide guys... they burn fans up even after upgrading their oil coolers.

Going with a tuning device is your best bet IMO. I'm happy with our TTS. Even on a stock motor they are very helpful, more power, less heat. Easy to use, no professional help needed.

I should have mentioned I have the V&H Big Radius 2 into 2 and a Battley TFI module.

Can anyone confirm the HD Premium Oil Cooler Kit, 26157-07 is the correct one for the FLSTSE
