Road Tech 660 vrs Garmin Zumo 660
« on: March 23, 2011, 03:35:36 PM »

I can buy the Garmin Zumo about $50.00 cheaper than the Road Tech 660. Can anyone tell what, if any, is the difference between the 2 units. Thanks.

Road Tech has a 2-yr factory warranty, Garmin has 1-yr.
Road Tech will transmit navigation prompts thru the nav interface if you have it or decide to intall it, Garmin version will not.
Other than those two points no other difference that I know of.

I'm not sure about the Zumo, but I do know that the Roadtech is water, dust, and shock resistant...supposedly it's protected a little sturdier for motorcycle use.

The Zumo has the same specs. :2vrolijk_21: The main difference's is what Jerry (Ultrafxr) stated in Reply #1. Also regarding the preloaded dealer database that is provided in the Roadtech it can only be updated thru Garmin it is not a owner/operator database that can be changed like regular POI's (points of interest). Some have found recently in light of all the dealer closings that the preloaded database of dealers hasn't been up to date. :( There is a member on the ZumoForums that has been great about keeping/updating a dealer database that can be loaded as POI's that is available in the download section of that forum.

NOTE: The before mentioned POI database available on ZumoForums will not update the factory dealer database that came installed on the Roadtech's. You can load and use them (if you have POI Loader), but you will end up w/two databases.

The database can be copied off a Roadtech Zumo onto a Garmin 660, it works, and updates as required, d00d.  ;)

Besides the dealer database...the other difference between the Road Tech 660 and the Zumo 660 is that the Road Tech comes with a two-year warranty, whereas the Zumo comes with a one-year.

Normally the Harley Zumo is cheaper from one of the 20% dealers.
