Best Replacement Seat
« on: April 23, 2006, 10:04:10 PM »

After a 230 mile ride today, I've made up my mind. The OEM ostrich seat has to go. Has anyone replaced the factory seat on their CUSE and if so, what seat did you go with? I've had Corbin before and loved it. I'd like to get some of the ostrich leather incorporated to maintain the CVO appearance if possible. Just looking for advice.

Have not replaced mine...yet.  However, I purchased the Mustang (big butt) for my 03 Heritage (the one with the back rest) and loved it.  Anything is better than the stock back rest.  The Mustang had a 2 way pivot and an easy removal.  Still thinking... Maybe stock in the winter (hot seat feature is nice on cold days) and Mustang in summer (AZ gets on the warm side and do not need the hot seat)... [smiley=confused5.gif]

Couldn't find anything with the Ostrich in it, I put a Road Zepplin on last fall, and for a couple rides this year, but my wife doesn't like the pillion on it so it's goin up for sale here soon.

You may want to check this company out for a custom built seat made for you and your passenger.

I found the stock seat VERY uncomfortable as well.  I purchased a "Pro Pad"  with sheepskin cover ($149.00) and the seat comfort improvement was incredable!  I would recommend this addition before spending big dollars on a different seat.

Odd. I took a 3k mile trip with the stock seat and had no problems.

Much different story than my (so called) Softail. I had to have the seat re-padded on that one. The stock FLSTS seat was only good for about 100 miles before it was painful.

I had first thought I'd have to do the same with the SE Ultra and but pleasantly surprised by the comfort.

Have you all thought to try to move your seating position just a bit forward or back by adjusting the backrest? Just an inch could make a world of difference.

I had a Sundowner seat on my '01 Ultra and loved it. Most comfortable seat for me and the Boss. I wish I had it back. This CVO seat sucks in the comfort dept.

I had the Sundowner Touring seat on my '04 Road King Classic and it was very comfortable for both me and the wife.  Might have to think about one for my SEUC.  The Sundowner Touring seat is a great buy at $325.

I'll bet Corbin could match the seat exactly with one of their touring models and also with direct connect to the factory heating plugs.. Corbin seats are firm and you can ride 'em with no pain until nature calls  [smiley=nervous.gif](or longer with a catheter)  [smiley=jalapeno.gif]. Not cheapest but good. You probably have to change out the Moco backrest but its a pain anyway...

I live in San Jose and go down there in person and wait while they do it on the spot.  They have 'faux' ostrich (fake) but it's California you know... so after I while the 'bumps' degrade but it still looks like ostrich...

Have 'em on 1997 RK (black leather with studs), 2002 SERK (Grey (faux) ostrich and black sides), 1999 FLHRCUI w/Hack has black with paint matching.

While I know they HAVE ostrich, I have some kind of Snake (gray) and God knows what I chose for the black seat....

BTW- I plan to go down to Corbin and ask if they could dupe the seat with something I can sit-on- but after I finish the engine/pipe mods...

Let me know if anyone is interested.

I visited Corbin on Tuesday this week.

I plan to go back in next Tuesday and have them 'build' me a matching seat to the moco one.
