Signal stabilizer
« on: March 26, 2011, 03:53:23 PM »

I was putting Custom Dynamic LED's in the front turn signals of my USE4.
I have them in the back and love how bright they are.
So I spoke to Custom Dynamics and they talked me into the their signal stabilizer.  After installing it there is interference in the FM radio when the signals blink.  I talked to Custom Dynamics and told them my problem...after some time and discussion he told me that it was the SE CVO amp and they have had the problem before.

I really wish they had told me of this problem when I told them I was ordering it for my SE CVO Ultra.
Oh well,  they said they will take it back and that I can use two load equalizers and just be certain not to use the hazards as this will overheat the load equalizers.

So before I go this route I thought I would check here.

Anybody have a signal stabilizer on their SE Ultra with the original HD amp that works without interfering with the FM?

I am using Custom Dynamics front and rear LED turnlights with Kuryakn's run/brake controller and 2 Kuryakyn load equalizers under the seat.  So far so good-knock wood.

Hopefully we are never broke down on the side of the road.

Guppy,
I have the same problem, and received the same response from custom dynamics - very disappointed, I don't believe it is the cvo amp that is causing the problem, because when I listen to XM there is no distortion when the signals are on, I feel that the interference is being picked up thru the am/fm antenna. Additionally I had the same turnsignal setup on my previous roadglide (07) and had the same problem, also a friend with a ultra limited (no amp) just installed the custom dynamics setup and he receives the distortion when signals are on when listening to FM. hopefully someone will chime in with a fix or some direction.

That is my exact same set-up...except I have the signal stabilizer.  I will be going to two load equalizers too, unless someone chimes in with a working solution.
I don't think it will be a problem as long as we don't use the hazards for any length.

Good info Larry.  I think you must be on to something if it is not any different with your buddies "no amp" bike.  My bike only interferes on FM also, and if it was the amp it should be a problem listening on my ipod too.

Thanks for the replies.  My fingers are crossed for someone to chime in with the fix.

Sounds like the response from Custom Dynamics wasn't very accurate.  Also seems like they are the ones who need to come up with an answer, if they want people to buy their products.  Maybe someone needs to explain that to the guy in charge. :nixweiss:

You are right grc.  I will have that conversation with them on Monday.  My goal here was to find someone who has a working solution.

I have two Kurakyn units in fairing, one for each turn. Worked good for two years now with the Custom Dynamics white LED street magic inserts (run @ 100% blink to zero). Very satisfied.

So after talking to Custom Dynamics they sent me a new RF coated signal stabilizer.
Same crap.
Still buzz's with every turn signal flash.
