I understand the principle of moving it back for more room... How does it look?

The only person that will know it's there is your BSR when they thank you for the extra room.  Otherwise you can't even tell it's there.

I understand the principle of moving it back for more room... How does it look?

 :worthless:

The plate looks just fine, as shown.  I have mine in the 1 1/2" position, and the only way you can tell is that you can see a bit behind the seat because the flap thingy on the TP backrest is not quite thick enough, but it's really not a big deal.  At 2 1/2" back, that would be a little more obvious.  If it bothered you enough, you could always fix it by taking the backrest off and having the flap thing re-done to be a little bit longer/thicker.

Makes getting the seat screw off a lot easier too, and the speaker pods don't touch the sides of the seat any longer.

Where you put it is dependent on the size of your BSR and body type...1.5" seems to be perfect for mine...her butt is on the whole seat now, where before the back 1.5" was not even being used.  At 1.5" the TP lumbar support appears to be vertically aligned with the back of the seat.  With the new lumbar support in the backrest, there is DEFINITELY less room for the BSR than was the case on my '06 SEUC.

+1  and the install only took me about 20 minutes without anyone to hold the tourpack I put the bike up on my bike jack so it was standing level and went to work, easy as pie, just followed the instructions included in the package. Makes it easier for the BSR to get on/off the bike and she has a lot more room.

This is one of the first mods I did, love it! Tonnes of room and I can keep my backrest on when my BSR is on the bike.

Thinking about getting one, or making something similar (perks of owning a machine shop). There is really very little room for a BSR to squeeze in on my bike, only skinny chicks need apply!

At 2 1/2 back, my BSR said her butt was hanging off seat to sit straight. Went with 1 1/2 and she is a happy as a lark. Great product.

Great kit, needed on new bikes.
I would recommend it to every one with 09 up touring bikes.
Just noooooo room in the back seat without it.
My ole lady loves the extra room, and has thanked me many times over!!! :orange: :orange: :orange: :orange: :orange:
Just sayin.
