New Bassani Road Rage Series II
« on: March 28, 2011, 01:30:46 PM »

http://www.bassani.com/new_products/24/

Probably too new for anyone with real world experience to comment on it.

It has 2" primaries, and it seems like it is meant for larger modified engines- not sure if it is the best for our bikes and the low end torque that touring bikes want.
I see Thunderheader also has a new X series pipe, but it looks like it also a larger diameter pipe for the bigger built engines.

I called Bassani, and was told that since the 110" in stock form doesn't put out a whole lot of power for it's size, it is a border line recommendation for these big pipes. Having said that, he said the FLH 767 would work well on a 110".

I did a search, and saw a thread where Doc commented on the older Road Rage, and said it is tough to tune for lower range hp/torque.

I'm wondering how people think this would compare against the D&D Boss Fat Cat with the Q baffle- I realize D&D is a proven performer and traditionally has better fit and quality, but I do like the look of this Bassani, and if performance and quality were equal, I'd prefer it. The only negatives in my mind about the D&D is the different sound quality it has (the unique sound of it), and the fact that my Indy shop claims that the newer Fat Cat for the 2009 + doesn't perform as well as the older version.

I have the older version of the D&D fc with qpb and it performs very well but is not quiet..I honestly think it is too big for the 110 inch motor

I am going to try the new one only because that big rear cylinder sweep on the old style burns, as in sets a fire to my jeans..

We'll see. Good luck with your choice...the bassini products look too bust to my eye but I am a simpleton.. ::)

bump- there is very little info on experiences or opinions on this new system, and was hoping for some of the resident tuners to chime in with their opinion.

We've got a 6 page thread on this over at the Road Glide forum, but even then, only found one guy that is running it.

It should definitely perform well- equal length 3 step header (1 3/4 - 1 7/8 - 2") but our question is about the 2 mufflers they offer, and the different answers people get from Bassani vs their website-
- the megapower muffler has a 2.25" x 19" long baffle inside of a megaphone style muffler.

- the B1 muffler is a non-megaphone shaped muffler (straight 4" diameter), and has a 2.5" x 16" baffle, and also has an extended collector (3" into the muffler I'm assuming), so I guess that effectively makes it like a shorter muffler, which is better for mid-high end hp?

Thing is Bassani's website says the B1 is for 110" ci and over, but when you talk to them, they say for a 110" with no engine mod's, they recommend the megapower. Guys in that other thread have built 103"s, and have been suggested both styles when talking to different people at Bassani's.

I plan on calling them back on Monday, and nailing them down on an answer and make sure I understand why, but how does everyone think the megapower would do on my stock 110"? Also, I will probably do cams/headwork eventually, so you think it will still be the best choice for my bike?
