Interesting discussion on tire sizes for the SEEG. I just ordered a set of Metzeler's and in the process of doing so was confused as to what size I should get for the rear. The Metzeler web site says 150/80-16 for 2004 SEEG, HD dealer parts dept. pushing Dunlops says 140/90-16 (Metzeler recommends same for FLHT). However, general manager at same dealership has same bike as me and he is running 150/80-16 Dunlop, so I am assuming the 150/80-16's are the recommended size for the rear tire on a 2004 SEEG only, 140/90-16 on std. FLHT. In any event, to cover my bases, I ordered three tires, one front (130/90-16) and two rear (150/80 & 140/90), just in case. Will return the one I don't use.
I chose the Metzelers because I am disappointed in the milage I got out of them (approx 7K on rear) and they I don't feel comfortable in the rain ( I don't normally ride in the rain, that's what cars are for, so maybe that is the reason), but the Metzelers have significantly more tread depth when new (probably to compensate for softer compound) and are supposedly smoother riding and better handling (dry and wet) than Dunlops, so I am going to give them a try.
