I ordered the  FL-VIED-10.  Install was plug and play (plus a ground wire). cost was $125.  IF you have any questions you can call Steve or (since you are in Australia) e-mail him at: nightrider@nightrider.com  He is a retired engineer and the inventor of these products.  I cannot tell you how amazed you will be with the drop in temp.  You shouldn't have to remove the race tuner, but to be sure drop him a message. If you understood the technical data on his website, the two of you will get along just fine.

IMHO, piggybacking the IED devices on top of a true tuning packaqe is rather strange to say the least.  Why would anyone want to do that?  If you have a proper tuning package already, just tune the thing and be done with it.  I think the real problem is that plenty of folks have had their dealer sell them a SEPST and just threw a canned map into the ECM that didn't affect closed loop at all.  Find a real tuner who can adjust the mixture properly.

The IED devices are fine for those who just want to fix the lean condition in closed loop on a stock bike, with an easily removable solution and without spending a large amount on tuning.  Of course, if you opt for the richest of the variations, you will see decreased fuel economy.  Last time I checked, there is no free lunch.

The VIED's work in closed loop, under 4000 RPM and under 40% throttle, where we spend most of our riding time on a day-to-day basis (at least I do).  Various mapping equipment improves overall performance but generally is more noticeable at high performance levels. Jerry is right, that this is an inexpensive way to cool things down without a performance package.  As far as the mileage, I'm getting 40 per gallon with the VIED's turned to the 100% setting. Jerry also makes another good point; you might ask the dealer that installed your tuner and mapping if he can make further adjustments that will run you richer in closed loop.

I rode in 98F temps earlier this week......all day long, with leg fairings on and I haven't experienced one leg any hotter than the other.  My bike has been professionaly tuned (not by a dealership).  While Harleys run a little warm, it's just never been an issue for me. :nixweiss:

Took lowers off. Much cooler as their is actually wind now blowing on my legs.

It was 90 degrees yesterday in St. Louis. Took about a 300 mile ride. Gotta say, Much cooler but these bikes obviously run way hotter than by 88" Deuce with no windshield.

The CVO was tuned professionally by a great local tuner. I'll just have to live with the added heat since these bikes have a big fairing on the front with two big wind deflectors sitting on the rear sides.

Don't get me wrong! I love the bike!

Only thing I would say about removing the lowers is you will regret it when you get caught out in the rain. You will literally dround.

It helps to have long legs, that way you can keep em out of the heat. Not that I would know.  :huepfenlol2:

I suggest you take a look at this : http://www.nightrider.com/parts/
I took the time to read the information here and I called the information line.  I installed a set of these sensors and immediately noticed a significant drop in temperature.  I have mid-frame deflectors and V&H high output slip-ons on a 2011 CVO SG.  I did NOT need any additional tuning or mapping. This does not affect your warrantee.  This is a product that actually works as well as the ads claim.
