Yep, not that easy tho, see attached picture of the backside of original medallion - can't custom engrave a stamped medallion, that's what we are looking for, we don't want the stock insert...

I was going to update this thread, got my pieces over the last week, had some trouble with shipping. The picture below is the stock insert & the powdercoated inserts I ordered - one smooth & one textured.

I also received my anodized inserts today - I haven't got a pic of these, but I assume you get the idea, fairly smooth, flat black color. By fairly smooth - I had them brush the aluminum before anodizing to get rid of any imperfections, there are slight brush strokes.

Most of the inserts are in real good shape - I am very picky tho - some have little imperfections, I'm maybe the only one that will care.

Here is a picture from the end. Hard to describe, but the inserts I ordered are as thick as the stock inserts when you measure to the top of the stamped portion. The inserts I ordered are about 2/32" thick, where the portion of the stock inserts where you screw them on is only about 1/32".
The inserts I ordered may have to have the aluminum countersunk a bit. I don't have my bike so I don't know how long the screws are & if this will be a major problem.

And finally, may be hard to see, but here I have made a decal to show what I'm planning to do to mine. I will blast/engrave the black portions away down to the bare aluminum & then remove the purple decal to reveal the remaining black - similar to the stock inserts...

Going to the engraver today & hopefully will have a finished product within a week - will post back tho

I will maybe have some extra blanks depending how things turn out & how many we have to practice on, will let everyone know...

I am interested if there are extras. I think the anodized sounds good. I wonder if that powder coadt will chip  when you engrave it? Excited to see how they turn out!   Face

Now where were you a couple months ago to help us? :nixweiss:     :P

Curious, is that a metal tag? Would like to see a bigger picture if possible - that's what were after I think!

Here is my first attempt doing this myself. Made a decal & then blasted away the anodized portion.
Picture is not the greatest with my cell phone & in my office. Doesn't give the "shine" like the stock ones. I don't think the ones I'm having laser engraved will either. But I think I will be happy with these.
I also tried one of my powdercoated blanks, but the stencil was to thin to hold up to my abrasive (plus I was a little aggressive) so I blasted through the stencil before I had gotten through the powdercoat. Had no idea powdercoating stood up so well. The gloss powdercoat looks promising, I will have to try again & take my time. Keep in mind, I'm using a sand blaster with very fine abrasive to do this, not sure how the powdercoating would stand up to any sort of other engraving.
I will post more pics when I get my others back & when I get a chance at the powdercoated ones again.
Hopefully I will still have some blanks left for you guys...

Closer pics. Lots of different styles of lettering available. BTW the photos of the other emblems looked great.
