I was at Daytona bike week and toured the Kuryakyn tent. Lots of nice stuff, but I was looking for a tour pack lid organizer. I purchased the one below and since I was also having them install driving lights, I asked that they install the organizer.
As soon as I opened the tour pack I realized that the double stick tape would not work on the liner on the CVO's. I rode home and lived with the organizer for a week or two until it was laying in the tour pack after a ride.
My wife was going to sew buttons onto the tour pack liner and I would cut slits in the organizer to allow for the buttons...nice idea I though as if I removed the organizer I could cut the buttons off with little damage showing.
As I was removing the tour pack liner so my wife could lay out the buttons I realized that HD attaches the liner with only Velcro on the fibergglass. The liner sticks like glue to the Velcro!
Now, here is where Kuryakyn has to re think their design, they have sewn the loop side of the Velcro to their lid organizer, so if you have no liner, you stick the hook side of the Velcro to the fiberglass lid and the organizer is stuck like....Velcro! and as designed, can be removed and carried to hotel room, restaurant, bar etc. Instead of sewing the loop side to the organizer, if they would instead sew the hook side to it, EVERYONE would be able to use their mounting system no matter if your tour pack is lined or not.
See, we spend the extra $ to have to fix these idiosyncrasies ourselves! I knew there was a reason!
