Rear Tire Life with Gobs of Power?
« on: April 05, 2011, 12:17:33 PM »

I think my rear tire on the SEDFB is wearing to fast I have 5K on it and it looks poor. I think the wear accelerated after the engine mods. How much faster do they wear doing spin outs, inducing tire spin going to second and sliding to stops? :bananarock:

I may pay, in cash , for my juvenile riding habits. :coolblue:

At the risk of being rude and/or offensive, after reading several threads started by and/or contributed to by you methinks you know a hell of a lot more than initial reading of your posts would indicate and you're having fun playing the newb with all of us. FYI, if that's the case, I am amused as hell - - honestly, this post/thread especially has me laughing.  :D

BUSTED! :nervous: I'm wiping tears of laughter right now.

I am new to this club and recognize the expertise here so I am careful, but I have rode a bike a day or two. ;) I love humor and understatement and am having a great time. I never mean to harm or cause trouble and am basically a people pleaser.

Back on topic and more to the point I love the wheelspin of the Fatbob and wanting you guys to tell me it's ok to act like a teenager and buy tires every 3k, or less if the tire smoke becomes addictive.

I just bumped up a thread where guys are getting to 20k with a tire???? My riding style would never allow that and since pockets ain't empty bro. I'm cool with tires by the gross. ;D

G'Day mate and damn observant of ya.

I tried to send a PM to help clarify my understanding hope it made it.

My comment about juvenile riding comes from the wife since she hates that showy style riding that I call just fun. Ever since I got my first dirt bike and hopped it up I just love power, wheelies, powerslides and wheel spin. I ride the same whether people are with me or not so it it not for show as the wife accuses but for the pure fun and thrill. I am a 51 y/o kid that loves the outdoors and  bikes so my thread was really about seeking others who like the same things and yakin up the good life.

I really don't care that much about saving tires or money and was wondering are there others out there that waste tires for fun? This new bike is fast and a blast.

Nothing to clarify Dr.D  Your sense of humor is well appreciated here by folks like spydglide and myself. Keep it coming.

PS  Tell your wife if she doesn't like your riding style you'll buy her one of her own to ride as she pleases.

My wife has two new Harleys that I bought her. Well she just sold the Deluxe last weekend cause after riding the new 2011 103' SG she is ruined. I had to bite my tongue nearly off after she complained about my showy ridding. All I wanted to ask was, did she think I should ride like and old lady? Thought better of that and shut up.

Glad you all took the post as it was intended.

Dr. D, I am impressed that your getting 5k miles, wish I was, you gotta stop riding like an old lady /oops bite tongue  :huepfenlol2:

All seriousness though I don't do burnouts or the stuff you speak of and still dont get 5k, although it would be nice to get that out of a tire.  Could it be the Metzlers?

Dear Dr.D,

Here's an idea.  I haven't tried it but it makes sense.  Keep track of the spots where the spin outs and burnouts happen then go like a bat out of hell backwards over those same areas!  I think it'll roll the rubber back on the tires :bananarock: !!

(I channeled BB to learn this information :huepfenlol2: )

If you move to the Artic Circle, your tires will spin & spin & will last much longer on the roads there.  Something to do with Global Warming probably.
