SEPST
« on: April 07, 2011, 01:18:42 PM »

Yes, I already did a search and couldn't find anything! I also called a couple of Stealers and, of course, they had no clue.

I want to know if the software can be downloaded to more than 1 computer?
Many of my business programs have licensing restrictions and only allow it to be downloaded to 1 or 2 machines. I don't want to download it on my main PC and then find out I can't download it to the laptop.

Thanks,
Rick

I haven't used the HD software in a few years, but the last time I did there was no problem having it on multiple machines.

If you think about it, the software is useless and does nothing without the interface that is married to one bike only.  Thats why it most assuredly is no problem putting it on multiple machines, a hundred even.  Anyone  can go to TTS  Mastertune website and get the software before even buying a unit. Everyone in the world can have a copy to look at for free.  Because it is completely useless until you buy the interface.  It is not like Microsoft office that actually does everything it is capable of right inside your computer.

HD does not include the software with the product. You have to pay extra to get any software so it is possible that they have placed restrictions on it. AS stated above we feel it's not going to do you any good without the rest of the kit so we just let people download ours and we do not care how many machines you keep it on, but then again we're not HD.

Screw software all together,, try or go with the Revolution Performance EMS and rid the software blues forever... no worries about the latest and greatest update files, software upgrades, dongle marriages, laptops, dyna tunes.... etc........... Just install it, ride and dont worry, think about the next steak diner on route 66   :2vrolijk_21:

of course.. JMO folks... but i think think there is a lot of sense behind the Revolution Performance EMS  :P

Thanks for the replies.

I'm not trying to use it for more than one bike, I just want to be able to view the data and make changes on my main PC and big screen and then reflash from the laptop. The software, the way I understand it, can be used with any dongle and bike, It's not the software thats married it's the interface. I just don't want to lock up the software in case something happens to the laptop and I have to reload. Ya know, ya just can't trust these stingy bas-tards!!

I fully intended to go with the Rev Perf after the research but it's not going to be available for my ride for at least a few months yet. TTS is also not available yet. :nixweiss:

Seems like I'm always the one trying to mod something that the usual crap isn't available for yet  :soapbox:

As Steve mentioned, when you buy the SEPST you don't get software anyway.  It, along with cables and other essential stuff, are all optional at additional cost.  One more reason I'd never consider buying an SEPST from Harley; I don't appreciate this sort of marketing practice to make your product look price competitive when it really isn't.  Of course, the marketing folks at H-D would probably say that they stopped including the software and cables several years back because so many folks just had the dealer download maps or do the dyno tune, and the customer would be paying for cables and software they would never use.  Only thing about that argument is that they didn't reduce the price of the kit when they eliminated the other stuff, so that pretty much exposes that BS for the lie it is.

If you're really interested, get the CD (P/N 32111-11 Software CD, $29.95) and see what it says about installing it on multiple computers.  I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Harley in it's greedy wisdom didn't find a way to restrict it's useage so one guy couldn't buy the software package and share it with his buddies.  It's just not the Harley way to pass up an opportunity to stick it to the customers.  And if you actually want to be able to communicate with the ECM, don't forget the cables.  H-D's version only costs $39.95, I imagine you can replicate their offering at the local computer store for about half of that.

Hey Jerry, thanks for your reply.

I already have it all................. SEPST, CD / software, and the cables that ONLY fit my bike. I had these coming when I originally posted and have now received. OF COURSE, the CD or manual (at least that I could find) says nothing about whether it can be loaded on more than on computer. I think I have found my answer on another board, this person states that he has it downloaded on four computers, hopefully not BSing. I'm going for it anyhow!! :nervous:

I agree with you 100% on their marketing crap and the way they BS us all with the way they "lift and seperate" in order to screw us as much as they possibly can.

If it does not go outline to activate itself, the software should be usable on multiple PC's.

While we are on the subject, I have the SERT, stealer installed that I wanted to be able to use it my self. My question is will it work with the SEST software. The stealer ordered software for me and when it came in it was the wrong software, or will it work? If anyone is using the SERT with SEST software, is there any issues that I need to know?? I don't want to download it if it won't work?????
Thanks!!!

SERT will not work with SEST software.  They are different devices made by different companies.  Try this for SERT software----
