Radar Detector
« on: May 25, 2004, 11:11:32 AM »

I have a radar detector installed on all my bikes, and the SEEG is no exception. Not that I have a hard time staying close to the speed limit, but those speed zones you find in the small towns (especially in the US) on secondary highways have cost me on more than one occasion.  The detector serves as a wake up call to slow down as the cops almost always have their radar guns on in these areas.

I used an escort 8500 detector mounted on top of the radio under the fairing using Velcro.  Its audible alarm output is switched through a relay, (that is controlled by a speaker switch I installed in the dash), to either the intercom headset or to a sonalert called a Radar Screamer.  The radar screamer has 2 settings

After getting a costly counseling yesterday about paying attention to speed, I think I will be looking into a device like this, thanks Darrel.  Now in VA, just having the device is illegal..... Might need to do some homework! Great conversation piece anyway.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Yeah, 'er 'uh, Darrellh,
I chose the K-40 Mirror Detector.  Impossible to detect by those looking for it.  I'll try to get picture and post.  Really neat!  It's only illegal if you are caught! [smiley=oops.gif]  It has paid for itself 50 Times over! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]  Later--HUBBARD

Where did you get that slick mirror from Hubbard? I have had the K40 in a few cars and loved it. Thanks!! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Yeah, 'er 'uh, Laker,
We are K-40 Distributors at the Truck Dealership. I'll get you a part # and send you a PM tomorrow.  You can order from any K-40 distributor.  I don't think I am supposed to promote my business on the site, and I agree with that.  These mirrors are not shaped like the CVO mirrors.  They are shaped exactly like stock mirrors, only much thicker, to conceal the mechanism.  Later--HUBBARD

Junior Johnson?

I think it was Smokey Yunick.  You gotta love a guy who argues with officials that his car's gas tank "is too legal you damfool and couldn't have too much capacity" and then keeps on arguing about it for an hour.  Then AFTER NASCAR had pulled the tank from his car and were still bitching he finally got fed up, got in the car, and drove away  [smiley=laugh.gif]
