Speedometer/Tach Light Bulb Color Replacements????
« on: April 29, 2006, 09:12:34 PM »

[size=12]Does anyone know where I can find different color speedometer and tachometer light bulb for my '06 SE Fatboy?  [smiley=bulb.gif]

I have put the blue light pods, flush mount gas caps that have blue lights and the blue oil temp light.  Now I want the speedometer and tachometer lights to be blue because it looks kind of silly being the only lights in orange.

If you do know where I can find them how hard are they to change?

Brent,

I have no first hand knowledge of the lighting on the Fatboy gauges, so I can't give you a definitive answer.  Hopefully they are illuminated with bulbs; the gauges on the E-Glides have non-replaceable lighting (change the gauge if the light fails).  If you can come up with an industry part number, as opposed to Harley's part number, try this place  http://www.lightlens.com/coloredbulbs.htm  They have more colored bulbs than any place I've ever seen.  Rather pricey, but they do have the selection and they carry the good stuff, not just the junk with the glass covered in paint that peels off in a few months (like my amber turn signal bulbs from H-D).

Thanks Jerry I will find out if mine actually has bulbs or not.  I just assumed it did.  We all know what assumptions do.

Brent,
Late this afternoon I removed my tank, seat & pipes in prep for my gear drive cam installation that I will do in the morning. So I will have a look at my speedo/tacho & see what I can find for you & let you know tomorrow.

Cheers

Slowly but surely, only waiting for a couple more parts before I start, the wheel & I need to have some custom fender struts (frame horns) made to replace the stock ones I will be cutting off. Just yesterday I recieved the 2006 FLSTFSE2 buckshot strut covers. Now I will be able to have the new frame horns laser cut from a big chunk of high tensile steel using the strut covers as a template. The 05 seat will still fit with a few mods but I may try & get an 06 seat base also. But have another small delay as I booked my bike in for a dyno tune last monday (1st May) & they could not fit me in until friday 19th May. So I will not start till after then.

Cheers
Mike
