Do you think it is because projected sales were flagging on the Red and Black flamed FLHTCUSE6?  Was it stock sitting or are they going to make this a policy to offer a mid year colour change to boost sales...  Interesting market proposition, but I am in business and I would think it would HURT sales as people might wait to see what the new model was...

Also, it would PI$$ me off if I bought the Red one and liked the BIG BLUE better...  Personally I am smitten by BIG BLUE...  And have one on order which is a big ask in Australia as it is about a four month wait to get on shipped and converted to our laws..  I am not complaining, but this is a first and I just wonder if anyone has the answer to this strategy.

I am a mid sized Businessman, and it does not make sense, UNLESS you are going to offer two colours to the CVO Ultra from now on.... It does not make sense to do this new release and might even pi$$ some people off, or make them wait to see what the alternate is.

HELLO, HARLEY DAVIDSON, ARE YOU LISTENING?  I am sure they would monitor this Forum...      :coolblue:

I waited just short of 6 mionths for my 2011 Big Red. I'm completely happy with mine. I wish you would hurry up & get yours & go put some miles on it. It seems all you have to do is post something on this forum everday. Get a life!

I think Cowboy is bored and needs to ride some.

There was a mid year CVO Ultra in 2010.
Harley usually does a mid year model, hasn't always been a CVO though.

Hey Danner, SBB had the answer, that was an unnecessary knock on someone you don't even know.  I was not putting down your red and black, that was out of line...

And your comment about "Get a Life"?  Lets see, I have 48 Employees, Compete Reining Horses State and Interstate, three properties to maintain, 2 CVOs amongst my toys, and my major hobby is maintaining a 30 acre property for 210 special needs Children, all the RDA (Riding for the Disabled) in my region are Sponsored on my horse property where I have built them $400,000 in facilites including a 21,000 sq ft indoor arena:  Danner I doubt you could keep up with my Life.

It was a legitimate question, we don't get mid year models in Australia, and your response was not called for.  So, I support my Customers on the Internet and am on the computer a lot.  I am like a little kid, excited about my new mid year CVO coming, and I thought this was a friendly Forum for fellow enthusiasts. I think you owe an apology for making such a childish personal attack.  I was not putting down your red and black, and that bit on unfriendly response was uncalled for, you with 48 posts yourself.  Shame on you.

Thank you for a fair response SSB, I was not aware HD had ever done this as we don't see them in Oz.  Probably because by the time they would get here the next year would be out.  I thought this was a first.  According to HD in Oz it was. Nice bike, it makes me feel good to look at it as there are none here yet.

Cool, Danner, Peace

Thank you for that.  You restore my faith in Humanity....   I like the Red and Black too, but when I fell in love with the CVO Ultra, and did the numbers to convert my existing Ultra, I tried to get the Red and Black and there were none available.  The entire Australian quota was taken...

Peace Man, I did not mean to infer that your Red and Black was in anyway unattractive, I would have had one myself since October when discovered, if they were available on this little 3000 mile island..

I will try and not post so much until you catch up.... Rein in my enthusiasm...    ;D

Cowboy, post away, that's what this site is all about.  :)  No worries mate.  Last year was the first year, I believe, that they introduced a mid-year CVO when they came out with the 2010.5 semi blacked out SEUC.  Now that was the fourth color of the SEUCs last year.  I think they were trying to focus on the SERGU this year for the ultra bagger, but didn't want to drop their cash cow CUSE, so they only started with one color for the SEUC and 3 for the SEURG.  Then the mid-year comes in blue/black for the CUSE.  HD, if anything, is a marketing genius.  They really know how to sell the product.

Well thank you SBB..... "Need to go for a long ride" that is probably true for all of us...
How does this compare with you Riding Enthusiasts over there?  I have done 5000 kms so far this year, 3125 miles..  Rode on Saturday, 300 kms with "Kings Riders" on Sunday, and every day to work this week until today because I needed my truck...  BIG BLUE coming, is my 8th Harley in 40 years.  My first Shovelhead was a 66 jammed into a 57 rigid frame with a suicide clutch and jockey shifter on the transmission.  I do probably 12-15 k a year.

In miles alone: That would surely put me well in to the mean average of real Motorcycle Enthusiasts..?  Not sure I need to go on a big ride, maybe just quit having so much fun on this Forum looking forward to my new scooter.   :jack: :soapbox: :nixweiss:

And thank you for that support Red Devil...

It's all about HD marketing strategies...I sure wouldn't mind having a Red/Black also. They're both beautiful bikes.  Are you sure for the Blue/Black Cowboy..?   Maybe we need to  think ahead... I wonder what the 2012's will look like..... :huepfenlol2:  :2vrolijk_21:

Not gonna wait.....
You Lucky 88.....

I gotta a few grey hairs... Miss my last Ultra, love this CVO, only CVO I could get or was available...  LOVE it, but the big wheels, skinny tyres, skinny seat, and hard lowered suspension gets me a little tired after more than a few hundred...  Besides, gotta admit I am a big sissy and that Fire Blue has been my favorite since I was a kid.   When I Ordered my Mack Horse truck about six years ago, I was gonna get that Fire Blue, until someone pointed out that the local Garbage trucks were that colour..     !@$#&!, gun metal gray metalflake it came... :coolblue:

Hey, Cowboy ..... there's a reason SSB is also known as "chithead" here and you've just been indoctrinated as to why. Post, go for a ride, do what you want, it's all good. There was a time on this site just about everyone was as excited and passionate as you while they waited for their new rides and it's refreshing to see it come out again in your posts. I'm looking forward to reading more from you. :2vrolijk_21:

Cowboy- Congrats on the bike.  The dealers I've talked to on this subject of producing more of a "limited edition" bike are not happy with this practice either.  It is their number one sales tool in getting someone to lay down 40m+ after taxes.  When the bike was introduced at the bike show, it was said by the company that there will only be "1,500 2011 FLHTCUSE6's, when there gone, there gone". All 1,500 got spoken for. The business model that worked so well for the company in the 90's (High Demand-Limited Supply-High Resale Value) has been left way behind.  It was that era that brought about all these large new retail buildings we now have throughout the country. Most of these, have a pile of dept, along with a pile of unsold bikes. The whole concept of "limited production" by the company, has been fairly abused, and in my opinionm is done. So here we are.  Now that the 11.5 Blue ones are just about done, wonder who will buy the green and black 11.75 (rumor has it, that it's the best color yet and a limited supply).

ps-bet i get the "I didnt buy it for an investment comment".

Hey Jaysails,

Thanks for that insight... It is all making sense now... Out here on the "Last Frontier" in Australia, we don't even see these mid year model changes and this is a first. To give you an idea, so far only four of the BIG BLUE are coming here to Oz...

I have to tell you, HD has my respect....  Why?  When we were with old HD, and I had a 66 Shovel in a 57 Rigid frame, old school jockey shifter and all... HD sold out to AMG the bowling ball maker and IMO the product went to heck to some degree in the mid 70's... Then, through a few recessions and all, HD BOUGHT IT BACK! And started booming in the 80's and got better and better.  Now I have owned three of the Twin Cam models and a forth coming.  Bike Week in Daytona in 92-93 was AWESOME to see all the new styles coming out...  Anyway, keep riding and enjoying our Heritage...

Best regards from Oz, come on down, beer is on me...   :drink:
