Finally made an exhaust decision
« on: April 19, 2011, 09:42:41 AM »

Well, I've been a bit bored with my Fullsac 2.25" baffles for awhile now, and I've been going back and forth between various slip ons, or 2-1 systems. I finally went full circle, and decided to get what I was considering originally- the Rinehart 4" slip ons with the chrome end caps.

Placed the order today with Eastern Performance. Hopefully, they will give me more growl and deeper tone than what I have now, or else it is money wasted.

I'll post my impressions once I get them on.

Man, I figured you'd go with the Bassani Road Rage II. I was really looking forward to hearing how the RRII sounded. I've heard the Rinehart 4" on a built 96" it was the full Xtreme true duals. It was very deep and mean sounding. I'm sure you'll love it.
 Enjoy. Rick

Ah, you remember- yes I almost went with the RR II, but a couple things changed my mind.

Eventually (maybe this winter), I want to get some engine work done- there is a guy that does something with the stock cams, ports the heads and throttle body, and apparently gets great results (he says he gets 105 hp/130 tq out of the 110's). Thing is, for the combination of the work he does, he says it's best to leave it as a 2-1-2, and he likes my Fullsac headpipe (or even a gutted stock header), because that is what he knows works with the other stuff he does.

Also, if I did go with the 2-1, I'd probably miss the cooling factor of the ceramic coated header I have now- if I wanted to have the 2-1 header ceramic coated, there's another $100-$200, on top of the $1,000 for the RR II and Psuedo pipe. Plus, this drastic of an exhaust change would certainly require a new map and V Tune, wheras the Rineharts shouldn't affect my present map at all.

Also, I have been given positive opinions on how the RR II would perform on a stock 110", but in a way, it's no guarantee- the larger 2" primary tubes might be too much for a stock 110", and I may have had tuning issues.

So, as you can tell, I put a lot of thought into it, and hopefully I'll be satisfied with the Rineys.  :)

I figure with the money I'm saving with just buying slip ons, I will put towards the engine work in the future.

I have Rinehart cans with the performance baffles.  I really like the sound, it's tolerable at highway speeds, but it's loud to be in back of when the throttle is open.  I have no cats and Rinehart heads too.  Enjoy

I'm thinking of wrapping the Fullsac baffle 1/2 way down with a piece of stainless sheet metal to make more into a straight pipe to get a bit more sound......just thinking......might be cheaper than selling the mufflers and buying new ones.

I'll be hanging on to mine for now, so not selling.

I was thinking about the 2.5" Rinehart performance baffles, but I'm hoping I'll like it the way it comes. As long as it's a little louder and a little more agressive than the fullsacs, I should be good.

I had the Fullsac 2.25 on for two years.  I finally decided to mellow around town, but great on long trips.

I put the Vance and Hines Hi-output rounds on mine, they are 4 1/2 round at the end.  Very deep sound.  I really like them around town.  I think they will get old on a 600 mile day though.

I listened to all the Vance and Hines, and all the Bub and Rhinehart at Daytona.  Seemed to be the lowest and deepest sound was the ones I got.  It was real close to the Rinehart 4" rounds.

I am keeping my Fullsac 2.25's.  I will run them when I do my 2500 mile plus trips.

I had Pythons on my 03 fatboy and it was yep loud. Now I have a 2010 CVO Streetglide and really didn't know which way to go and was talked into BUB 7 TDX and have been pleased so far, Seemed a little tame at idle but you can hear when you pull on the throttle. With the stretched bags I wanted the dual pipes. Now just getting to 10 K miles and had a Power Commander installed and seems like it may be a little louder. Will know more as we are leaving Monday to the Grand Canyon.

I too had the Fullsac pipe and there 2.25" baffles and thought it was to tame. I too went with the V&H Hi-Output rounds and absolutely love them. Deep tone tone and engineered way better than any other muffler I've had. You won't be sorry if you go this route.
Does anyone know of the best true duel pipe out there or is there to much proformace lost and I should just stick with the 2-1-2?
