Took a nice ride today to Montauk point, on Long Island.  My low fuel warning light comes on with 4 LED's still showing on the fuel gauge.  The reserve countdown is also off (hence the light coming on) and says 24 miles to empty when there is more than 1/2 a tank left.  Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

Uh......NO! This has been going on from the beginning.  The dealer installed the Black LED gauge and gas cap. It happened the last 2 or 3 times that I let the gas go below 2/3's of a tank. The weather has been so bad here (and I have been traveling a lot) so I only hit 500 miles today.   Normally I would do that in a day or 2 of riding. So, this issue is only now rearing its ugly head!

the gauge on the wife's bike never has worked correctly trying to get her to use the trip meter I don't trust the gauge....

That was my first thought...but does the miles to empty, low fuel light and gauge all rely on the same float??? The gauge showed 4 lights left which is about 1/2 tank, but the light and MTE were both wrong.....strange.  I am curious what the answer will finally be.....

I'd just take it to the dealer for warranty and not worry about it.

Pull the main fuse for a few minutes to reset the ECM. however the alarm may start sounding because it senses a loss of voltage, Just a thought,Rick

Just FYI....if you pull the MAXI fuse with the ign on the alarm will not sound.

Not saying that's gonna fix this problem though.....

Do you actually think that this "could" do anything??? If so, it's obviously worth a try! Just never even thought about doing this!

I never thought about doing it either...I just posted the correct way to do it for the previous guy who said the alarm would go off.

It is obviously worth a try since it's waaaaay easier than going to the dealer!

Let me know if it works.

While all Harley gauges are notorius for being inaccurate, the fuel gauge is adjustable.  The dealership will hook you up.

It's not the fuel gauge, it's the miles to empty and the low fuel warning light. No, the concrete is not pink LOL, When I loaded the pic into Iphoto, I adjusted some of the color and I guess the red made the concrete look a little pink.  hahahaha!  Good catch!

I didn't know the fuel gauge was adjustable.  Mine reads low although my miles remaining countdown is pretty accurate.  Do you have any more details on the gauge adjustment?
